Hello Everyone.
Great weekend to celebrate Canada Day.
“Pay attention to pictures of missing children”.
Council Meeting, Monday, June 25/12, 7:30 pm with selected agenda items & correspondence since June 11/12 & after our last meeting. City web site will provide the complete details.
A) Presentation:
Lorrie Norquay of the Brandon Friendship Centre presented a plaque to Her Worship to memorialize and honour former residential school students and their families.
B) Delegation:
Neil Thomson of the Keystone Centre a Financial & Operating Report, Strategic Plan, Capital Plan Summary & Land Use Workshop. Revenue is up almost 10% for the year. Expenses are up 4.5% as well. Bottom line to last year is up a $150K thru a combination of a variety of issues. The Keystone will be back catering for various venues.
C) Committee Reports:
Council received reports from Audit & Finance, Poverty & Western Manitoba Regional Library.
D) Enquiries:
Railway Crossings Repair at 1st Street-August 12/13/14/15/12 & 18th. Street-August 5/6/12; Tribal Investment Group/Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Casino Update; Brandon Police Service Site Budget; Veterans Memorial-11th & Victoria Avenue; Bridge Repair for 1st. & 18th Street & 8th. Street Bridge Update.
E) Announcements:
Sod for Softball Campaign at the Ashley Neufeld Complex Inc, 1000 Parker Boulevard was launched on June 25/12. Contributors can purchase a “yard of sod” for $10.00 with all contributors being recognized at the new facility. F) By-Laws:
#7027-Solid Waste Collections & Disposal was read a 2nd, 3rd & final time.
G) Did You Know:
The 2011 City of Brandon Public Sector Compensation Disclosure Report has been prepared by Management.
City of Brandon’s 2012 Sewer Back-up Subsidy Program, cost shared by the City & Province is receiving applications.
Public Hearing for the Brandon & Area Planning District Development Plan will take place July 19/12.
City of Brandon Accommodation Tax commences July 1/12.
