How do you change keyboard French to English?

I know that this question has been asked before and I did a search through discussions but did not have any luck. It appears that when I am in word or on the internet posting I have an English keyboard but when I am typing an email it has turned to French. I have Windows Live Mail. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Oddly enough a friend of mine asked me the same question earlier this afternoon.

Is it the keyboard settings itself? I know sometimes I hit buttons that change it. There should be a little icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen that looks like a keyboard, if it's set to "US" you should be good to go!

Try going to your inbox, see the options just left of the blue question mark. Hit that, then more options, try selecting the language from there.

no luck yet . My keyboard is set on US so that is not the problem. I have searched everywhere I can think of while in Windows Live Mail and in an actual email . I am trying to figure out how in the world I could have changed it in the first place ... no one else has touched my laptop.

Try This

Go to your Control Panel - Clock, Language and Region. Under Region and Language - Change Keyboard and other Input Methods - Select the Keyboards and Languages tab - Change Keyboards.
You should be given US English as your default under this.
I'm using Windows 7.

Sounds like the setting is in your Hotmail Live. Go back to Hotmail and at the bottom right, there is the language settings. Hope it's that simple.

Thanks so much for your help ...

I should have remembered my son's teachings ... "when all else fails, reboot". I have no idea why it worked but it did. Thanks so much for taking the time to help ... I really do appreciate it very much.

Depends what program you are using

No matter what program you are using you should be able to go into the options and select the language as English. It is usually the program that recognizes your writing in French even of you are not...

For future reference, the normal shortcut to convert a keyboard from French to English (and back) is by holding the left alt key and tapping the shift key.
Unless you like rebooting your computer.
