Date night! Going to dinner, movie than sommerfest. We went last year and were far too sober, I'm thinking we'll approach it differently this year. |

I'm in the Alpine Express aka. the band that will be playing there so I will be there playing my euphonium (think small tuba and you will see me).

That multi shot stick is the "Shooter Bar" *grin*. It can be a challenge when you have a 5'2" person beside a 6' tall person*grin*. |

| | | German Summer Fest | | |
I hope everyone had very entertaining two evenings at the German Summer Fest.
It seems that had I been able to attend I would have met eBrandoners galore!
I lived in Germany for four years, in Baden-Baden. The heart of The Black Forest, magnificent casinos and The Baths....and wonderful people who extend great hospitality.

| | | German sommer feast | | |
Hello,
I'm a new member. I'm from Germany. It's to hear that Germans are friendly people. I listened to our internet radio farm. I was interested to know where is Brandon. The country music is great. And the sound is very good, too. I'm amazed to read about a sommer feast in Brandon. What's the reason.
With kind regards

I suppose it's hard to find enough volunteers to run such an event... |

It looked like everybody was having fun on both nights. The food was excellent. Its was cool watching the dancers esp. that mining dance. Being on stage with the band, I think the stage could use some more reinforcing for next year or I may have to stop one of the guys from jumping all over the place while we're playing, lol. It sure got Hot on Saturday until 10pm or so.
For those who were maybe looking for me, I was just to the left and on a bit of angle by the trumpet section, to my left was the tuba player.
Back to recovering from the Zicke Zake's and a lot of fun playing I go.

We checked it out Friday night. It was a well organized show that had a good amount going on. The group brought in from Regina (?) were very entertaining. We left around 11ish and there hadn't been much of a crowd up to that point. May have been a different story as the bar crowd made their way over? |

We also left Sommerfest just before 11, it was quieting down by then so we decided we had to make it to Houston's for the Platinum members draw : )
Sommerfest shut down shortly after 12 because the Regina Edelweiss dancers changed clothes and came to Houston's to dance. (Very nice group of young adults, my daughters and their friends met the dancers about 3 yrs. ago at the German Pavilion and they have all kept in contact ever since.) Three cheers for technology!!! MSN helps young people stay in touch more frequently than they would by phone or snail mail. |

| | | not many Friday but fun | | |
I was going to watch the performers but never expected to be a particpant as one of the dancers (off stage) started swinging me around in circles. Good for a laugh. Fancy meeting Adam there plus Les and Ryan of 18 Rabbit. Honestly, who can pound a nail into a railway tie in 2 shots. Lucky if I could hit the nail. LOL! |

| | | Too bad | | |
that the turn out was so lousy, despite great weather. Not sure the organizers are up to doing another Sommerfest. Guess we'll have to wait and see what time will do to change their minds. It's a lot of work for the handful of people that put this on to do and when the appreciation is not there and money is not made (even with shorter hours and tightening of expenses), it makes it hard to wish to continue. I can well understand why people complain that Brandon doesn't have much happening........ |
