Need awesome divorce lawyer

This is posted on the behalf of a dear friend who desperately needs assistance from ebrandonners. As I have limited knowledge in this department, I suggested asking the public for help.

She has worked her whole life, attended university and has an excellent job. Her husband has been riding off her "coat tails" for years and has been enjoying the lifestyle for years.

The relationship is now over (not a case of adultery) and now the soon to be ex is refusing to sell the house and is now slinging dirt and refusing to divide the marital assets 50/50, among other nasty things.

She now needs a lawyer who will make sure that she doesn't get screwed in the process and someone who has the balls to stand up for her.

Any suggestions ebrandon?

No such thing

Been there for 3 years now going on 5 , tried a hand full of them and system sucks , big money game for the lawyers and everyone else involved .
before I go on , if you are a lawyer reading this and have issues with what I am writing , then I challenge you to contact me and change my mind and I will gladly post a change of heart and plug you as an honest lawyer ( haha that would me an oxymoron )
Any lawyer will not talk to you before you hand of $2500 , then they will open a file and talk to you before you know it that $ 1200 to $2000 is used up
So if don't like the lawyer or don't agree with him you have to pay up another $2500 to start over
And that is not worst part
If you give direction to the lawyer and he does not agree he may drop you as a client and again your out that money
If the lawyer changes firms , or line of work , or stress leave or anything , or changes firms , you will be out that money too.
And it gets worst , if your file is like mine 3 years old then it would probably cost you $2500 and more for the new lawyer just to catch up
And even then your all back at where your expectations are and where he or she is willing to take you
Then there is issue of the system
4 judges and I will not go there in public form , but here is just a preview
You might and most probably have a per trail . This trail really means nothing in the judgment at end of day . You will get a judge out of the 4 which will / cannot be your judge at the final real trail
So at the per trail you still pay same rate and same hours , however the judge will not give a ruling , he will only give recommendations for the final trail , which in some cases may influence a settlement ( which could be done without the per trail and usually if you get as fare as a per trail then no settlement was on table to start with )
Also courts are so James so your looking at 3-4 month between each step
Now to add insult to all this , any judgment you get is not final , there is always a loop hole , so it's like going to a mechanic who charges you $ 10,000 to fix your car , with a 30 min or 30 feet warranty

So a good lawyer ? - ha ha again
If you mean a good lawyer that will fight for you and get you a fair judgment , then good luck no such thing
If a good lawyer is one that will do his job file paperwork and do the least possible work without you having to switch , then that is a good ( better lawyer) out of the bunch in brandon

To sum up , resolve this out of court , and save the money time and effort for your kids and family
I wish I can start a revolution to boycott lawyers couts and judges
We are feeding this monster.

My point of view , you and your x already lost lots , there are no winners since your at this point , the only ones benefiting from this point on is the ppl ( evil) behind the corrupt system .

Ps , dont endup like me bitter You will have no one to complain to or who can do anything for you

Been there

I agree....I was through the system and it took 7 years. however i did win in the end....If you call thousands and thousands in debt, but at least I did not let my ex take anything he wasn't entitled to. Tammy B. at Hunt Miller is very good at what she does. And yes, the system does suck, but most of us have no choice to use it since settling out of court is not possible. So, if you have to go there, have a lawyer who believes in the cause.

So

I recently received a letter from Breena Murray stating that she will be representing my ex. Does she play fair at least or is she a head hunter? I need to find my representation yet. We technically have nothing to split. Sometimes the trials of life arent fair, and we are in a negative net worth situation, so what should I brace for? I lost a pile of previously attained savings and assets during our marriage, and we still racked up bills.

is it just me

you got it right, usually its a big scam amongst the lawyers, seen it myself and was told by a judge that this happens. I surprized you haven't been deleted. pretty sure I will be,lets not spread it around its a corrupt system.

Tyler Watt

Go talk to Tyler Watt at Roy, Johnston. He is young, but ruthless, and very straightforward. He will actually work for you, not against you.

Karen Webb/John Burgess

Just started into divorce about a month ago.
Karen Webb of Burgess Law Office seems to
really know her stuff regarding legal positions, law, legal rights, kids, business matters etc. Also Karen and John do not waist time,
(Very straight to the point). After all, in
any legal matter, time is money.

Collaborative Lawyers

Are there any of those in Brandon? I hope so, because I think this is the way to go.

Karen

I don't know hoe efficient she is. My fiancé is still dealing with his divorce and after spending almost 5k on it, it might be null and void. Very frustrating to say the least, and im sure not all is in Karens hands (ex is a crazy) but you would think something would have been resolved by now. Its a pretty simple case.
