Two bridal gowns for a wedding?

Is having a dress for the ceremony and another lighter dress for the dance only something people do on TV? ha.
Have any of you or anyone you know ever done this?
I have 2 dresses I love, both very good prices, one is more of a ballgown and one a smaller lighter party one but still very pretty.
I am torn and wondering if anyone has just gotten 2??
