Well

It will be interesting. Right now the markets are showing their uncertainy by having the Dow futures down around 600 points, crude oil is down about 1.5 a barrel, Canadian dollar is also sharply lower, but gold is up big time. Time will tell, but if he is able to take the US in the direction he wants, four years from now there will be a completely different country and maybe even a completely different world.

NAFTA

Might not be gone it was Republican negotiation. Oil is traded in US dollars the stock market will fluctuate for a bit. In the end Canadian government with Trudeau will have some work to do and probably not be good for Liberals.

Buckle in and hang on for dear life! Already looking forward to his first two state of the union addresses. Then it starts all over again!

Well

he won & the world hasn't ended. I don't think it's going to make any difference to the day to day lives of ordinary, working-class people. Perhaps though it should make governments take a look at what people want rather than presume to speak for the people, as they do now.

He Did...

Now let's watch and see how many "Hollywood idiots" actually leave America, like they've been saying they would if Trump won. Man, I hope they don't come to Canada!

I got quite a laugh out of the liberal elite media choking on their words as it became clearer and clearer that Donald Trump was really going to pull it off.

I wonder if Obama is now wishing he had not been so quick to humiliate Trump at that dinner a month or so ago.

As far as all those Americans coming to Canada? I'm all for it as long as they come legally and are properly vetted before hand...

Corrections of America (for profit jails in the U.S.A.) made the biggest gains on the stock market today... it would be funny if it wasn''t so scary thinking about why.

Mexican fence

Can any country legally tell another country that they will be paying for something like a fence along the boarder? Especially if the country being forced to pay isn't actually the one building it.

love democracy! Monday Obama says Trump unfit to be president and should not have nuclear codes. Very next day he is showing Donald where they will be making coffee for him in the White House.

I don't know, but I would think not. I mean, that'd be like me burning down my house but telling my neighbour across the street they have to fork up the bill to replace my losses. "

Does anyone really think that Trump expects Mexico to write a cheque for the cost of building a wall?!?! There are other ways to recoup the money, like tariffs or - & this is just an "out there" thought - stop the flow of the millions of $'s that illegal immigrants send back to Mexico.

And stop cross-border shopping. That'll show them.

As long

As PM Justin Trudeau stands up to him, and does what's best for Canadians and the Canadian Economy/Environment.

It's just a shame I have to look at that baffoons face for the next 4, maybe 8 years. Who knows, maybe that baffoon will be a great president.

I would

love to see Mexico say, OK if we are having to pay for this fence, we are going to build it on our side with our companies and workers. It's the U.S. Governments responsibility to secure it's boarders. If illegals are getting past, then they are not doing their jobs along the boarder.

It's

always the same with people of opposing political views. ________ is going to ruin the country!! It doesn't matter who or the party. Liberals were saying Harper is the worst and now it't the Conservatives who say Trudeau is the worst. Same goes in the states.

It will be ok

Things may change in the US , but there are a lot of good Republicans who will have a lot of say on what happens. Opening the Roe vs Wade decision of the Supreme Court may not even happen because of how much grief it would cause. On healthcare there will also be some thought given, if 20 million people now have coverage and if changes are made that once again puts those people on the outside, there will be a price to pay, maybe in four years, remember 20 million people can represent a lot of votes.
There are also those who are financialy responsible members who do care about deficit and debts.
Obama promised change, but for many people things didn''t change, and the absence of the African American voter showed this. If things remain sort of status quo, or get worse people won''t be happy, and because of the emotion of this campaign people may be quick to judge.

I would like to know too, everyone is terrified, but don't actually have a reason why. Probably just going by what the media has told them to think. I have a lot more faith in his ability to govern than Hillary. If they had knowingly elected her with all she has done, that would have basically told her they were ok with what she has done and gave her permission to carry on as usual but in a position where she couldn't be stopped. My god people, she's a criminal!!!!

Yup, one has to be careful of what the media says, all media, not just the left wing media.
You ask about what anyone has to fear. Let''s look at illegal immigrants who have had children in the US. You can deport the illegal immigrants, but the children of those immigrants are American citizens, so are you going to take children away from their parents and let the state raise them, and Mexico has no responsibility to those children being they are American.
Another point, if the Roe vs Wade is overturned, then abortion becomes illegal. I''m sort of thinking that if this happens then we go back to back room abortion, which comes with a risk to those women who right now have the right to choose.
Also it''s sort of a fact that Mr Trump is opposed to the EPA, maybe the EPA takes things to the extreme in cases, but seems to be a necessary evil, and although some people done take the environment as a concern, the proper care of the environment is required for us to continue as a species.
I could go on, but I''ve got something to do, but if you want more just ask and I''ll come back later.

WOW.....

This election is no different than Canada. I was sick when Trudeau got elected , but guess what? I have to deal with it. Trump won. Deal with it. By the way. You live in Manitoba. Unless you play the stocks, this doesn't and won't affect you.
