Having alot of problems with Shawdirect Sattelite

Recently I had a problem with my 830 pvr receiver. I tried to change channels and my receiver turned off. I tried for over 20min to troubleshoot the problem but nothing worked. So decided to contact Shaw by phone. Never had a problem before calling and talking to a technical support person.... But this time was different instead of getting a call back it put me on the musical and ad merrygoround. I was on the merrygoround for 2 hours and had to put the phone down. I then tried the online Chat this told me I was on a waiting lineup for 17.10min, then 21.10min then 18.06min, then 24.20min, then 16.01min, then 18.30min by this time I was really getting fedup. So closed chat. I'll try again tomorrow.  
I need to ask if anyone else is having trouble with services from Shawdirect??

Occasional problems

Our one receiver acts funny sometimes like we loose the ability to pause, rewind, or ff live tv. It also screws up recorded shows. I have found that pulling the power plug out of the unit for a minute or so then plugging it back in clears up all it’s issues. Hope this helps.

Unplug the power.

Leave it unplugged for 10 mins and then plug it in again. Sometimes ele tronics just need to be reset due to a system brain fart. After reloading everything again, problem might be corrected.

Understand your frustration

We've been a shaw customer for years and sort of gotten use to the system not working correctly. I consider myself sort of patient, and have spent overan hour waiting so that I could talk to a service tech. We then do a check of signal and they tell me that there is no problem with my system, have done the unplug and leave alone for a while, but how many times should a person have to unplug something in a hour, have had it suggested to me that I might need to get the connection replaced on the cable, but have to question that when even when it's not working it has a good signal.  
At times a person has to wonder about our would progressing, now are the days where a person can be charged for terrible service.

I'm a patient person too but not sure what the problem actually is. I've left it unplugged all night plugged it in this morning and still no signal, I now wondering if it's the LNB in the dish. I'm waiting for a chat agent this morning, so I'll see what they say. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Sorry should have checked my message before sending.  
The message was "Sorry for the delay, we will try and get a chat agent to you as soon as we can"  
So I decided to go to the chat rooms to see if there was a fix on there and found I may have a blown AC transformer in my receiver.

Random problems can be due to over heating. Make sure the vents have lots of open space around them.

Shaw got rid of a LOT of staff this last year... Good luck with getting a hold of support now that they have gone to bare minimum levels of staff. I'm so glad I'm tech-y, and can fix most of the dish and wiring issues on my own!  
On a related note;Our Shaw Direct service has been working quite well for the last few years. one pvr, a few HD boxes and an SD box, and an 8-way switch. The problem isn't network wide.
