| | | No smoking in cabs | | |
I think a ll cabs are supposed to be non smoking. They are considered the driver's workplace and therefore are non smoking by city bylaws. My husband owns his own cab for a difference company and he never lets anyone smoke in his cab. |

1 United is the only company as a whole that doesnt smoke in the cabs I c it everyday ive worked for 4 cab companys over the last 5 years and all the other companys ive worked for that was the norm everybody who smoked just smoked in the cab nobody said anything thats just the way it was its been a law for about 5 years and nobody follows it except 1 united and until something is done thats just the way it will stay. about a year and a half ago when i worked for 4way they got a letter from health canada that they had a complaint about smoking in the cabs yet nothing was ever done about it so of course the smokers r still smoking and the only thing that will change that is if they start handing out fines plain and simple.... |

That's a pretty flimsy excuse to post a blatant commercial advertisement as a "discussion."
Pay the money to Adam for the Advertising and don't demean the rest of us by thinking we are too ignorant to cotton on to you main objective.
Buy an ad. Support eBrandon rather than your own objectives (free advertising). |

great that you think you are the only ones that follow the non smoking rules, but you are the only company that cant follow ebrandon rules. It gets a little silly constantly starting threads about the taxi stuff, usually putting down other companies, or trying to sneak in plugs for yours. Have you noticed no other business or industry does this ever? Sorry, but I am not liking 1united because of this we are better than others attitude I see on here so much. That comment about 4 way really crosses the line, do you have proof to back that up? Sorry for venting, but enough is enough. What you are trying to do is so obvious. |

Not long ago I was asked by a cab driver if it was OK if they smoked: it was late at night and the wife and I were going to the bar. We quit 9 years ago and don't want to breath it any more if we can avoid it but we could smell it in the car as soon as we got in. We should have just got out, refused to pay the "pick-up" fee and called for a smoke-free cab... ahh, hindsight. Edited by ChrisV, 2009-11-16 14:03:56 |

Im an ex 4way employee as well and Char is right. We actually got a talking to by the fleet manager about that letter and it worked for all of about 12 hours before smokers smoked again inside the cabs. I no longer drive cabs as the late night crowd gets to me now but saying you wont take a cab because they say they dont and wont smoke is silly. I take them now because:
A)There are lots of friends at that company
B)CLEAN CARS (the whole point of this thread)
C)Nice cars. They aren't windstars or impalas, they have lincoln and caddies.
D)They dont jerk you around by taking the scenic route. Almost all of the other companies hire new people to this country that don't know this city from a hole in the ground. That shouldn't be because they DONT KNOW THE CITY (yes this bothers me) If they could take me from my house and rack up a 10$ ride to superstore something is wrong because its only 7 blocks away from me. And it happens constantly with almost all the other companies. If they could navigate without taking 3 wrong turns for every right one I would:t have anything to say here.
All in all I dont see this thread as advertising, I see it as it is, simply a man saying you will be picked up in a smoke free cab if you were to call 1 united. I know when I need a cab I will. |

matter, plugging a business, self promotion, and bashing a business, not to mention airing dirty laundry is not really liked here, I have nothing to do with either company and this thread bothers me. Not really fair to 4 way is it? |

| | | I have to agree... | | |
It was a bit on the cheezy side GJ. This group wasnt started in an attempt to throw out plugs for companies, nor to bash them. Unfortunately, it happens all the time. Someone always takes the opportunity to drop a name or two. I could delete the posts, but they usually touch on relative issues in most cases. And yours is no different. Smoking in a Taxi is against the By-Laws not to mention a bit dissrespectful to the non smoking customer |
