| | | That happened to me too! | | |
I was about to enter the drive thru timmies by Canadian Tire and 2 guys in a truck cut in front of me. I didn't think much of it but when I got to the window I was told that my coffee's were paid for by the guy who was in front of me.
Never forgot that random act of kindness. Thanks to whoever that was! |

| | | last weekend | | |
I thought that I could hear someone walking on my roof saturday morning (wierd). so I looked out the window sure enough my neighbors ladder was leaning against my house and a air hose leading to the roof, then I noticed all of the leaves and debris flying off my roof, My neighbor was blowing out my gutters with his air compressor. As if that wasnt enough, I later heard him playing with his leaf blower (assuming he was doing his yard,) no I looked out later to find all of the leaves gone from my front yard!!!!!
Yah to random acts of kindness everywhere, I will be sure to pass two forward, and one back to my neighbor... |

| | | What an awesome thread! | | |
Was having a crappy day, and read this and just can't help but smile as I head off to bed.
I love random acts of kindness and try to do these sorts of things whenever I can too. It really makes you feel so amazing, a definite win win situation when you can make someone else so happy and feel so amazing yourself...
Kudos to those people who are doing these acts of kindness!
Just thought for anyone wanting a little further inspiration that I would pass this website along too.. it definitely offers me hope on a bad day!

| | | Question | | |
I don't drink Tim's coffee because I hate waiting in line but I was wondering how you know what the person behind you wants and how much money to leave? |

In regards to how you know what to leave for money, by the time the person in front of you is at the window usually in most cases you have also ordered what you want, thu ssaying at the window " i will get the persons behind me also" and they will give you the total....it is amazing seeing that more people are paying it forward and doing these random acts..its about time society showed the better side especially when there is more violence going on then anything...this is a good mentor for younger generations and it is much appreciated to all that actually pay it forward after receiving the act of kindness...if everyone paid it forward for everytime they received something just think of how many lives would be touched. |

| | | when my neighbour... | | |
finished mowing his lawn he then came across the street and did mine as well! It was like he could read my mind..i was just thinking i should go out and do it but was feeling lazy lol. He really made my day and im grateful for such a kind and thoughtful neighbour. In return i offered to babysit for him when i found out he was strapped for a sitter. I firmly believe that the good you do comes back to you. |

| | | School | | |
My children's school has encouraged something similar in the past. The kids get recognition for charitable acts and when they get "caught" doing something nice they feel so proud. They are always encouraged to "pass it on". I think it's awesome. |

| | | Gals in the office... | | |
many times are unable to leave the office throughout the day. Surprising them with a coffee brightens their day and a very simple way to say "Thank you. I think you are important".
We have a guy in our office that does all the "crap" jobs that no one else wants to do and never complains - a gift card every now and then with a quick note stating how thankful we are seems to brighten his day even more.
We also like to "pick" someone in our office that goes out of their way throughout the year and we all chip in and surprise them with a "little something". The recipient just walks on air for the next week.
Carry Tim Horton gift cards and if you see someone “down on their luck”, slip them a card…simple act of kindness.
The simple act of holding open the door for someone also seems to brighten their day and especially when you say, “Good morning, after you….” I know I appreciate it and it makes my day especially if it is a young person that is dressed in a manner that seems to scare the daylights out of many.

| | | I agree! | | |
I agree lets keep this thread going! Such positivity is good, especially when it can often be easier to complain.
So, lets keep the discussion going with- what is the nicest random act of kindness you have experienced?
AND
What would be some other random acts of kindness we could brainstorm to do over the next week? Then we could report back on how they go to continue to encourage people to pay it forward!
Just some ideas! |

Our church gave us $100 with one catch, We had to give the money away. It was up to us how we did it but we had to share in the New Year what we did. Everyone had fun doing this some even matched the funds. Try it some time. There is nothing like buying the next persons groceries or giving the teller a $20 tip on purpose. |

This thread is cool, made me smile. But "paying it forward" at a drive thru? Nice but, keep that in mind, random acts of kindness can happen anywhere, anytime.
Anyhow, keep it going.

| | | I don't want to be a downer but... | | |
I really enjoyed this discussion and all the comments; my only frown is when people are demanding it to be 'paid forward'.
I really don't enjoy reading that over-and-over-and-over.
I personally do a tonne of good deeds everyday and never expect anything out it. I don’t want anything out of it; it’s not my job... I’m just a junkie to that ‘good feeling’ you get from helping a mother with a baby open a door or paying for the person in front of you @ tummies. Knowing that you made some person, who you'll never meet again, a little happier is enough.
Wanting it to be "paid forward", is putting an expectation on the deed, and evolving it past a point where it’s a good deed and now an attempt to change society and their actions…
But I'm just a downer over here |

You're not really being a downer, because you shouldn't do something, expecting a return. However, one good deed, deserves another! It shouldn't matter if it was at the drive thru, or holding a door open, or smiling at someone as you walk by.
You always hear about the story of the guy who gets yelled at by his boss, so he comes home and kicks the cat, etc... Well, today someone came over to talk to me unexpectedly, so maybe i'll go say hi to an old friend in return.

| | | Reverse Pick Pocket | | |
This is borrowed from http://www.mylifeisaverage.com
Attache a note to a five or ten dollar bill that says, "you have been Reverse Pick Pocketed. Enjoy spending this money."
Then slip it into someone's pocket in a crowd or on the street or in WalMart.
