Paid the wrong bill!!!

I was doing some online banking tonight and I accidently put money on a bill I didn't need to instead of the one I wanted to. What do I need to do to get the money back? Contact the bank to stop it or the company I wrongfully paid? Or whaaat?

you can do but chip away at the credit now.... i did that once and could stop it.... lol

Online banking....

there is a number listed on your online banking that you can call 24/7 and they will reverse the transaction for you.  
 
Sign back in to your online account to find the number - check "Customer Service".

I did this last week . . .

i paid double the amount . . . i phoned the 1-800 number and they fixed it immedietly if its before the next business day!

No 24/7 number

Looked all over the site for a 24/7 number to call but sunrise doesn't appear to have one? All transaction questions have to be done at your local branch it seems. Gonna have to call first thing in the morning!

you just have to call the bank, I think as long as you call with in 24 hours they'll reverse it for you!

did

that too I had to contact the payee and request the money be refunded, then the bank transfered it to the right payee.

The bank I deal with

has a 1-800 number. I called it when I did that once and they reversed it in a couple of business days. I didn't have to deal with the company at all. Good luck!

CIBC

I did this on CIBC, as long as you think to do it within a few hours, you can reverse it right online in the same bill payment area... I believe RBC has the same...

RBC does for sure at the confirmation screen.  
 
You just have to phone before the transaction executes that day, somewhere around 6:00.

I did that too and phoned the number on the RBC website immediately. While I was on the phone with the rep and still logged into the site, I could see that she had reversed it right then. Very good service.
