ON THE LIGHTER SIDE, I have often wondered this and think it would be a very interesting topic.  
How did you choose your online name? I have seen so many amazing and weird names on eBay, eBrandon, internet blogs, forums, twitter, etc. and think that every name tells a story.  
I think many would use a their old nickname, loved one, pet name, with their birthdate... but that's common.  
Mine is 'ChaZacIsa'.  
Named after my 3 kids of course. (first 3 letters in their name: Chantelle, Zachary, and Isabelle.

Friends of mine while in college back on the early 90's were introduced to one of the very first online chat programs called ICQ. Pretty sure its still around, just haven't used it in years. Its kinda like MSN Messenger. Anyway, we made up our own names as they used "Handles". I happened to have a "Crunch" chocolate bar in my hand while I was trying to think up a name. Changed the "C" to a "K" and the rest is history. Have used that name on pretty much everything for almost 20 years now.  
 
Some people ask me if it's because I have beat up a mess of cars. Well, at that time I was up to 2 cars that were not my fault. I've been in a couple more accidents since then, but again, to date, not my fault.

I'm the supervisor of a lab, and have worked in one for 36 years, just thought it fit.

I picked it because I am just "some person" here, nothing else, just, some person.  
 
Although, my gamer names are Kaeyuri, Chi Chi and Nyght Star. Don't know why I picked them (Kaeyuri & Nyght Star), but I did. And Chi Chi is an old nickname, that supposedly means "big boobs" (can't remember what language), which I acquired from drinking buddies back in my teens.

Just a cho nickname. Ever since I was a baby. Short for my first name. :]

I stole it from my sister! She used it a few times, but doesn't go on any chat boards, etc. I have curly hair, and someone we used to know would refer to her as 'curly's sister'....which is kind of funny because she has curly hair too.

I had been visiting ebrandon a lot but didn't have a user name yet. Then one day I saw a discussion about Apple computers that I had to be a part of. It was so fitting as I am a mac addict and I would be commenting about it... and that is how it all began!

Mine is extremely self explanatory. I ride buses.

I am a vast lover of food and at the time I signed up I was eating chicken that was crispy.

my friend calls me izzy, Bell is short for Bellamy, the name of my idol. IzzyBell = Isabelle. ta-da!

Originally I was "Spongebobmang" because Spongebob is my favorite cartoon (my role model) and mang was a term used by many five years ago.  
 
Earlier this year, I changed my username to "Brewskibob Khakipants" because people call me Brewski, and bob for Spongebob...I wear khakis quite often, and they are pants.

As both a member of the fringe of society and now doing much better, I've gone from a "1%" in a bike gang kind of way to being in the top 1% for household income.

My Grandmother, she past,when i was 11 and she was so special to me, I knew her in and out, with out having to talk,lol shy but strong she was the only one called me "Niki". It was so wierd, sometimes when I remember my childhood memories, like drinking tap water from her green plastic cups'lol i can still smell, the plastic like i'm holding in my hand, today' she was young.NiKi i dont know it just stuck 4 me. i loved it. and i guess thats how i remember her.

changed my username once, had it my name before but liked the idea of being somewhat more anonymous. Culinary2011, I love food, cooking, baking, you name it, if it involves culinary skill I'm all in! And I will be a 2011 Culinary graduate! Very excited!!!

Mine is my nickname given to me by my parents when I was a baby and it has followed me my whole life.

was given that name from the people I worked with. I used to be a bartender at Encounters Night Club. That was my nickname when I was behind the island bar.

It's a "version" of my name and, even tho I am allergic to cats - I love them And, oddly enough, as I am very, VERY old fashioned, there is something about Kat Von D and LA Ink that stirs the rebel in me! LOL This is fun reading - thank you for a great thread!
