sandbags

OK I know this has probably been asked before and talked about over and over but I don`t get out much and live under a rock LOL so here it goes = is there a plan to remove the sand bags from 1st and 18th. I was just wondering as I drove to the store today that the sandbags seem to be busting and I was wondering if they were getting rid of them soon.

anyways, thanks for the info
this is not meant to be a huge debate etc I just want to know

sandbags

I think they are leaving them there til next spring, just incase.

I think it is a work in progress, but heavy equipment and manpower are limited and until a few weeks ago there was still flooding going on within the province.

i was wondering the same thing on Rosser AVe East

there is a huge pile of used dirty sandbags at the end which is no biggy there as no traffic goes that far except the two people that live down there. The one that bothers me is the huge sandbag that has been sitting in the one lane right before the tracks on rosser ave east that is forcing everyone to single lane traffic and all the traffic signs laying on the ground. like how in the heck did that one lonely huge sandbag get there and why was it left there it's like no where even near where the flood water came to plus a tractor would of had to put it there.. clean up the roads at least. please

looks friggin awful!!!

i hope they don't leave them for spring.
they're already falling apart....imagine them after a long rough winter!

ans how are the plows supposed to clean the roads properly if the sand bags are left there with the concrete barriers?

From what I have heard

they are tendering for the removal of the sandbags--so once they award the job to someone the bags will be taken away.

I am quite certain they will NOT leave the bags there until next spring--if they did that we could pretty much write off both 1st & 18th as soon as we have our first big snow/blow--there'd be so much snow drifted in over those bags that traffic would never get through. What a mess that would be trying to keep those streets open.

..

From what my DH says (he works for MIT) they are contracting out the removal of the sandbags and work should be starting on them sooner then later.

As the one in the Know believe me, the empty bags go to the landfill, the material they are loaded with gets re-used
