Silent Auction prize ideas??

I am co-hosting a fundraising event, it is *NOT* a wedding social.
I was wondering if you could shout out your favorite silent auction prizes - and give ideas of company's to approach in Brandon for silent auction donations?
Thanks for your ideas!

go to..

places that you go to lots. A company that ids approached by a frequent customer is more likley to give you something then going to a place you never go to.
I sell epicure and usually make baskets for customers of mine or friends and family that I know. That stuff comes out of my own pocket so why would I give to someone who never orders from me?

Depends on what crowd you are having the silent auction for. When we do them we try to get unique items so we have gone to places like KK Penner, Kal tire ( not sure I can put names but I did) etc for an oil change and they usually throw in a hat, Guys like these items, also golf courses even if it is off season also have gone to places like the hotels usually a buy one get one deal for an appetizer. Wheat Kings have always been great too.. Even the salons around town just don't overlook the smaller places and Reps for Avon, Mary Kay etc will usually give a sample pack, even though it comes out of their own pocket they may just pick up a few customers from it so it is good advertising
Oh and always try to have a kid one . Kids love raffles too

one of those big blue rubbermaid totes...fill up with kid stuff like art supplies, activity books, books, toys
the money tree...get a nice vase and put some twigs in there covered with lotto tickets and those $1 scratch tickets. or you could buy a table lamp and cover the shade with the tickets then its two prizes in one
the love basket...fill up with goodies from smitten, add two champagne glasses and candles from dollarama
the hangover basket....put in both hangover movies(2nd one comes out in nov i think?) add tylenol and water for the "hangover" and add munchies like chocolate, chips, magazines and some macdonald couponss(always need something greasy on hangover day lol)
mystery package...put together any package and cover it up with black paper and put gold question marks all over it...the mystery of what is in it will get lots of people
a cookie cookie sheets, a cookie cook book and add stuff like chocolate chips, icing etc. could do pie/muffin/cake etc package as well
relaxing package....teapot with some nice tea and a mug along with some books and magazine, bubble bath, could add spa gift card
have fun!

Great ideas!

Loved the ideas so far, thanks for sharing. That cookie one and the hangover one, especially! LOL!
I agree, I've been hitting up places I go to often (as a customer) but also think its a good idea for other companies to donate for advertising purposes.
Any others?

Everyone's hand is out for advertising dollars. Most companies are approached multiple times per week to advertise. That isn't really a hook.

Heres a few ideas hope they helped.

Ask some companies that just opened up and who would need a little bit of help advertising there company so people know about them.
Maybe even discount cards(coupons) from quite a few companies and put them all together in a basket for one prize.
Try get a hockey stick autographed from the Wheat Kings and raffle it off with loonies filled up on one side for a prize.
I have many more other ideas. Good luck with everything.
