Fake $10 tip...

For a waiter who depends on tips to earn more than minimum wage, a $10 tip can be a welcome sight. But not in this instance.

As the waiter found out in the link below, not only was that $10 bill not the real deal, it only made the matter worse with its "Some Things Are Better Than Money" religious message on the back.

"I have never been more of an atheist," writes the waiter, who will likely do horrible things to that diner's food if they ever dared to return.

Back in the day I got a little card that said something along the lines as 'there are two gifts her for you to day one is a tip and one is a message about God'

I read it, kept the buck, threw out the paper, had a good giggle about it…didn’t go to the media...

A cruel joke, but nothing to get (ha ha) your panties in a knot about

There are religious saying and pressure as obstacles in everyday life, if it upsets you, you may not be as firm in your belief (or non belief) as you think that you are

I am atheist too.

I would be pissed if I seen that, and found out it was fake, with a stupid message on the back of it.

Being a waitress/waiter is a tough job.

When I was a waitress, my usually tips were a couple dollars. I'd walk out with maybe $20 a night (I'm serious, Shilo has a lot of cheap people there). So seeing a $10 like that would make me excited, until I found out it was fake.

Really...

Do these religious people think that this is the way to bring people over to god? Like the guy said, he's more atheist then ever. Hey then again...maybe this is some atheist with a new trick up his sleeve to make more people pissed of at chirstians....lol

Well.....

....I am not surprised by the message or the medium. These things are typical of christian proselytizing.

Mean

and not very Christian. If I want a religious message I will seek one out. So don't bother trying to stop me on the street with your little cards or leave a 'fake' tip for me, you will NOT like the response you get.

Ironically, this week's lectionary readings include the counsel from Jesus as he seperates the faithful sheep from the less than faithful goats: "just as you do it for one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you do it for me ..."

This is very goatlike.

In the process of 'welcoming' people to the Good News, they manage to do anything but. In my mind it kind of flies in the face of the whole "what would Jesus do?" movement - Jesus would not only leave a tip, he would leave a generous one knowing the servers have more than earned it.

Honestly..

I think if they left a real tip and then a piece of paper with a message, or ome of those religious cards, that is fine. But to fake a tip, that is really low.

I wonder

I wonder how many folks on here that are outraged by the fake tip will also be the ones that say they never tip in Brandon....some folks just want to be angry...

If this

happened to me I'd probably laugh at how excited I got over a fake $10 bill haha. I don't really understand why you'd get so upset over it.

I think its kind of an insensitive joke to play on someone in the service industry, especially when they didn't end up leaving a real tip somewhere but the guys reaction is like a kid who just lost their first game ever, calls their opponent a cheater and stomps off with their pride. Oh well at least he'll have one more thing to add to his obviously self-righteous stance against Christianity. No chance he could just shrug it off because deep down the people thought they may have a tiny hope in aiding his spiritual journey. Obviously they have no idea what's important in life...like Battlefield 3.

Obviously you've never played Battlefield 3...

- Leaving a bible passage on a card is not something new, A few years ago I served at a restaurant and one particular couple would never leave a penny, however they would leave a pamphlet with the story behind "Amazing Grace"... Were they my favourite table? hellls no, but they were nice.... Theres no issue there...

... Its that someone took the time to make it look like a $10 bill, just to trick someone... kind of a dick move, regardless of your religious affiliation

BTW... BF3 is worth selling your soul for...

Well

The best way to get back at them is quite simple really. Get a bunch of the fake $10 bills with the messages on them and go their church on Sunday and fill their collection plate with them and see how far they get with the fake money. *Insert Trollface*

just sayin

Maybe the waiter was a real jerk and this was their way of letting him know that.
Not every waiter or waitress deserves a tip.

I think

handing a server a real ten spot and thanking/blessing them would say so much more. I think THAT is God's will. What a joke. How the LORD must grieve over some of the sh*t that goes down on planet earth in his Name.

stupid.

I think it's rude, and was probably used as a mean joke, not to actually proselytize. This isn't something that's typical of people in most Christian circles, many are quite the opposite.

my server. I have been known to tip for great service, even when the food wasn't that great. It isn't the servers fault the food is crap.

wow

That dude need to chill...that just shows how brain washed our society is.. this guy is so pissed that he didn't save up for his ridiculous game... ( which I would likely play as well.. but casually.. ) This guy is likely obsessed with these types of games and thinks its ok to go around threatening to kill people who may have had the best of intentions and may have tipped more generously in other circumstances.. anyhow.. now im rambling, but was shocked that someone would be that pissed off for not getting a tip.. and.. yes I have been a waiter before and I would have never had that attitude.. although , it is definitely appreciated when a tip is left.. generally over the normal 10%

I once was walking through a mall in Fredericton, NB with a couple of friends, minding my own business. Suddenly a young girl (I'd say 6 or 7) comes up and hands me a bookmark or something similar that says "Jesus loves you", and then runs back to her mother who was standing on the other side of the food court.

I followed the child over, presented the mother with the bookmark and calmly asked just why she thought it was necessary to use her child to force her religion on strangers in the mall. She immediately said she was going to call mall security if I didn't stop harassing her (oh, the irony!).

Since I was fairly certain the mall cops would take the word of a mother over a 20-ish male, I shook my head and walked away. I will never understand the overwhelming need for strangers to force their religion upon others.

Halloween

Some people handed out fake money with religious messages on Halloween to my kids, including a comic type booklet that talked about looking at women lustfully...none of it appropriate for my 6yr old on Halloween.
