| | | Foxy's Bistro | | |
I was walking by the old Munday's restaurant on 10th street and Lorne earlier today and it was closed. There was a Sign in the window saying "Foxy's bistro and Pub" coming soon. Anyone know any details on it? When does it open? |

....March 1st. I hope it does well, as it's close to home for me. It's all about the food. Went to Mundays, and although the service was good and staff friendly, the food was not the greatest. I even gave it a second chance, and same results...good service, friendly, but not the tastiest food. |

This restaurant is owned by my girlfriend and it will be open March 1st, 2012. It is a classy restaurant/pub opening at 11am and will close probably around 1am.
The owner has years of experience running a restaurant and you will be able to get a variety of foods from your classic apps to healthier choices.
They have been working their butts off remodelling and the place looks awesome.. I was in there last night and I couldnt believe that it was the same restaurant.. |

with Shnar .. people from Munday's were friendly and attentive, but the food was definitely lacking. Hope the new place will do well |

:O A pub downtown and open past 12!? I'm in! I hope it's open later then most places.(11 or 12) Would love a classy sit down pub that is open later so I can have late night meetings. Besides Tim Horton's or McDonald's. I know the other decent pubs are open but always close before we want to leave.
I hope for 2am or later closings and some great deals to attract people, since that area seems to have a hard time. |

If they're calling it a "pub", I'm not expecting to be satisfied with a beer selection. There's no place in town that has great selection of beer on tap. Want Keith's or Rickard's? It's darned everywhere, even the sketchy places, but I wouldn't consider that "good" at all.
Ah well.. but I'll check it out when it opens! |

| | | Hello from the owner!! | | |
Hi everyone, I must apologize for being late to respond to this discussion. As we all may know/understand that opening a new business ground up is a lot of work. I thank all my family and friends for pitching in to make my dream a reality, without all the helping hands I wouldn't be able to pull this off in three weeks.
Just a quick background of myself and Foxy'z. I started my career in the industry 14yrs ago in my home city of Winnipeg. I've worked as a server, bartender and manager throughout the years from 5 star restaurants to a small pub on the corner. I've always dreamed of one day opening my own place and 14 yrs later it's coming true.
As I start my journey I do ask for everyones patience as the flaws are worked through and would greatly appreciate any suggestions along the way.
By the way, I'm always looking for some great people with similar passions.
Time to get my rest. I'll be sure to keep in touch.
Cheers |

Hello Foxy!
Would you be kind enough to email me the details about your new restaurant? We are currently updating the Brandon Tourism Visitor Guide and I would love to list your new restaurant in it. You can email me at rachelle@riverbank.mb.ca!
Thanks in advance!

...you're complaining before it even opens? How about suggesting some beers you would like to see on tap instead of just whining that they won't have what you want. |

I too can never get a decent beer in Brandon, it has
come to be a good joke whenever I go out to dine.
The secret to dining out in Brandon is to set your expectations
really really low.
I wish Foxy's all the luck and hope they can get it right. |

...what would you like? You say you can never get a decent beer when you go out...well here's an opportunity for a fine beer connoisseur such as yourself to make a suggestion. Hard for a new pub to meet your high expectations when they dont know what you want. |

| | | FOXY'Z BISTRO | | |
I heard that the old Munday's Restaurant located on 10th and Lorne is being occupied by Foxy'z Bistro & Pub. They advertised the Liquor Licence today. A Bistro is what Brandon needs, Bistros are opening in Winnipeg now and other cities across Canada. I heard that Robyn who use to work at The Lady of the Lake is running the place. Should be good then! Small place with good service, good people, good food and fun times is what we need! I think it might open sometime March month. All the best to them., |

There may be a very large selection of assorted crap or a much smaller really well chosen beer on tap for the regulars. Then a owner would experiment on additions??
No clue how big this place is but I would think a owner would need a decent sized place with lots of "beer traffic" to have and keep a large always fresh selection you may be thinking of.
I will check it out also! |

My fiance and I stopped by Saturday for dinner, and I have to say (being a server myself) that I was quite happy with our experience there.
Not many tables (about 14 I think I counted?) and it's a small space, and I got a chuckle watching a group move to get away from the cold breeze when the door opened- it's small enough that when the door opens, if it's cold out, you'll notice it.
Great decor, very nice looking restaurant. Prices were definitely reasonnable (fiance and I live on a pretty tight budget, and I was pleased to see that we could afford to eat there semi-regularly if we chose to)- two full meals plus a soft-drink for myself and dessert and it was about $42 plus tip.
The food was really tasty- the best part was that I actually finished everything on my plate (as well as dessert)- a feat for me for sure! Normally when I eat out, I need to take a plate home and always end up overeating and feeling bloated. The food at Foxy's was JUST enough to fill me up without giving me that sick feeling, and to keep me full for a few hours after- that for me is a huge thing in a restaurant, and I've only ever experienced at one restaurant in Winnipeg before.
My only complaint would be on the service, and it's not so much as a complaint as it is something that played on my nerves as a server- I found our server to be very boring, and not the quickest, considering we were the only table there at first. I just found our server, although friendly, to be very quiet, and our interactions were strictly limited to 'Anything to drink/Here's your food/Any dessert? Here's your bill' (Not word-for-word obviously, but nothing that made the service stand out for me).
Overall I really did enjoy my date night at Foxy's, and would go back again- hopefully when they have their liquor license and I can enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. I'm chalking up the service 'issues'(again I state it was not bad service at all, just not the level I was expecting at a 'bistro and pub') to opening-up kinks. Definitely recommend! |

If the server hadn't been "boring", in your opinion, what would you have complained about then?
Some folks just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about... |

And some folks just aren't happy unless they pick apart other posts.
Sorry that I like a good quality evening out- it's what I've been trained to give customers that come in when I'm working, and I like to get the same when I go out for a relaxing meal.
People had asked how everything was, and I gave an honest review- note I did not *complain* about the service (the key difference being I did not once say it was bad service) I simply stated how I found it to be- just because I wasn't WOWED, doesn't mean I'm complaining. |
