Hellhole

Well after living in or around Wpg most of my life, and after seeing many cities around the world I agree yes it's a hellhole. From the run down northend, to the dirty pot hole ridden streets to the drunk locals sniffing gas, that city is not just a hellhole, it's dirty crapper in the devils bathroom.

I

love Winnipeg. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe I should give a tour to the previous posters so they can see MY Winnipeg.

Ha ha

I've lived in Winnipeg and there were Hell-hole areas with sketchy people but I didn't frequent those places or hang around those people so I guess out of sight, out of mind. Maybe Lowe is just too feminine to venture out so feels trapped watching American tv. Then again, maybe he was just needing some love & attention.

.

Maybe people should open their eyes around Brandon too..Same could be said from the outside looking in. I could rattle off a list of many things if you think Brandon is just roses...

Saskatoon is just as bad as Winnipeg. 20th St C-S ring a bell in Toon Town. Many areas are a dumps too people are just bliss to it..

Hellhole

Ah the osbourne village, I forgot about that freaky part of Wpg.
I lived on gurtrude behind the old dutchmaid ice cream stand for a few months back in the mid 90's. From the bums dumpster driving at KFC, the pathetic squeegee kids begging for change to support their habits and the all the other cultural elite people in that area. That's your Wpg????. What a mess!!!!

Wow

People really are reading too much into a comment, without even knowing what he was referring to. So he called a sports bar a hell hole, big deal!

I love the peg. They have a fabulous arts and music scene, a great foody scene, and there is so much to do! It is a vibrant city, which has its downside as most cities do. Has anyone looked under the 8th street bridge lately?
I would take Wpg over Bdn in a heartbeat, with its canned music and crappy chain restaurants. People in Brandon who try to get thing things going face an uphill battle with the small town attitudes that are so often very apparent on this forum.

Good lord, loosen your overalls a bit.

Apparently it wasn`t for you. For a VERY large amount of people, it is for them. A good chunk of my friends that left Brandon because the lack of jobs live in this area or spend most of their free time in this area.

How many people in Brandon can walk to all of their favorite restaurants, pubs, shops and the grocery store in under 5 minutes? I have never felt nervous about my safety, and the convenience living in this location vastly out weighs any of the negatives of the area.

Are there people that rummage around in the recycling bins? yes. Does it affect me in any way? No.

Brandon has a lot of crap areas/people only on a smaller scale but nonetheless, still exist. No roses.

Don't know Saskatoon all that well but LOVE IT in the day time!

I lived in Saskatoon for a bit a few years ago and it was AWESOME. I worked downtown across from the mall. Loved the walks I could take at lunch, good selection of food and drink, and it always seemed clean?

Always a few homeless people outside the mall. One guy was unreal on the guitar, I always gave him some change. The other guy sat shirtless and played scratch tickets. Did not donate to his cause.

The Bay in that mall always had blowout deals on mens dress clothes. I think I picked up 3 shirts for $25 one day.

While...

I have never been the celebritry stalker type, if he is so close to home, when in Rome...

I don't know how many times I seen Wayne's World so far in this life, but I always thought he had a certain sexiness about him, even if he played a creep ;)

I don't know why everyone in Brandon hates Winnipeg so much. I'm not familiar with the area because I've only been to Winnipeg like 5 times so far and there seems to be far more things to do there in comparison to Brandon.

Some parts of it are sketchy but then again Brandon has tons of sketchy areas too. To be honest I've been tempted to move there because there's definitely far more jobs then there is in Brandon, I've been in Brandon for two years and have had a solid two jobs since I've been here, one was a sketchy job that I probably shouldn't of signed up for (giving out free samples, god awful management/poor communication) and hospitality which I'm still at but not getting many hours because it's the off season in my dept. It seems almost everyday there's hundreds of jobs are added to kijiji/jobbank there. I have a fantastic resume but because I have no vehicle, no jobs that aren't restaurants want to hire me.

As for the whole silly twitter post; dude who cares? He's allowed to have an opinion.

I love

Winnipeg ,lived there for many years and would love to live there again. The only reason we are not I came home and fell in love and married to someone that has worked at the same company for 17 years ,so it would be foolish for him to leave . There are so many beautiful parks ,fun things for kids and friendly people . Also in most areas they pick up garbage and the city looks clean and beautiful ,everyone also seems to mow there grass, hedges are trimmed and you do not get hit your head on city trees like you do here.Sure there is crime and lots of crappy areas ,but every city has them.

Yep

Agree with the hellhole assessment even if he was only referring to a bar.

I have lived in many cities including Winnipeg. Parts of Winnipeg I feel like I am in a third world country. As Canadian cities go Winnipeg is at the bottom of the list. Terrible roads, high crime, high taxes and crap weather.

no way

Obviously this guy didn't realize that there are casinos in Winnipeg. Geez I hear they don't even have to pay property tax in that city because of all the stars flying in to play VLTs and watch world class entertainment like Triumph.
