Ive had Mirena birth control for the past 18months, and have loved it, but Im ready for baby 2.  
 
Ive been reading horror stories online about getting it removed: heavy bleeding for 2 weeks, a "mirena crash" pain.  
 
Any personal stories?  
 
I have a vacation planned for 3 days after the removal appointment, should I reschedule the appointment until after the vacation? How long did it take to conceive after?

Well I can't really say much. I had the mirena put in a few years back and had to have it removed not even a month later due to problems from it. For me though I didn't really bleed after havin it removed but you've also had yours a lot longer than I had mine. Do you have a gynecologist? If you don't I would suggest dr. Shunmugam at the brandon clinic. I know people that conceived right away after having it removed.  
 
For just in case purposes tho I would personally wait till after your vacation to have it removed because each person reacts differently to things

Had mine removed at doctors office, not a problem at all. No bleeding. Little bit discomfort for about a day. No real pain. Mine was removed after having for four years. Removed due to complications to my ovary.
