Giant asteroid zips past Earth in 'scary' shave

I heard about this awhile back, but Thursday night I never gave it a thought. 5 million kilometers doesn't really sound like a near miss to me. Maybe that's why I didn't see or hear anything.

A city block isn't that big really, the dinos were wiped out by one miles across, as were the North American mega-fauna 14,000 years ago. Definitely not an extinction level impact. Worst case, Chicago or Detroit gets a make over.
