Barter

Hi folks, I've been a loyal Classified Shopper/Seller and have bought and sold tons of stuff on Ebrandon, I love it!

I caught an episode of Barter Kings on A&E and thought I'd like to give that a shot, I especially like the idea of NO CASH DEALS because we all have something someone else needs or wants but I don't see a section in the Classifieds for Bartering.

I'm not sure how to go about it but I created a profile and I don't know if this post is an acceptable place to start or not but I'd like start something and see where it goes.

I have a brand new in the box 30" Fire bowl to trade which you can find under "FIRE BOWL - FOR TRADE" in the Home & Garden classified section.

Never tried

I have never tried barter on Ebrandon but I have done it through me business before, its funny though you never know if someone is willing to trade if you don't ask!

funny

I was watching it the other day also and was thinking the same thing. What you say Adam , is it possible or worth while having a barter section?

.

It is best if you:

1. say what you have to offer and
2. list the items/services that you would be interested to take in trade.

To offer fair market value across the board (equal perceived value) of items is essential in bartering fairly without ripping another off or causing hard feelings.

I've

Traded before. About two years ago I was looking to a slip queen box spring to trade for my whole box spring. Worked out way better then selling ours to buy new because they didn't need a slip and I did. I put in my ad will buy or trade and I got a trade. I think a barter section would be great

Personally, I don't think it matters if you trade up or down in value as long you get what each other wants and both are happy.. Sometimes it might be worth trading for something a little less value then yours if your item is no longer of any value to you and you both get the item you were wanting....Just sayen !!

A bartering

section sounds like a wonderful idea! They should have a spot for it in the classifieds! Maybe you could talk to Adam about it and see if he can either make one or knows who to contact!

just maybe

seems strange

growing up as a kid in the 60's my Dad always bartered whether it was for combining, lumber and even stock (pigs, chickens etc) seemed everyone was willing to barter with him and he did very well with it, and he swung some pretty good deals...
maybe it is time to bring it back no doubt lots of people have stuff they want/need but dont have money for it (that was my Dads case) but have something someone else wants and is likley willing to trade/barter

One day during a debate at work my very successful employer put it very simple ...a good deal is when everyone gets what they want...

Barter

Bartering is a great way to get rid of stuff you don't want, trade services, etc. I have done barter in the past and would think a Barter section on classifieds would be a good idea. The only drawback I can see is that the provincial government wouldn't get their pound of flesh if taxes and income aren't reported. Sucks to be them !!!

I also have a 6' x 9' utility trailer...I don't want to sell it...but i would pimp it out if someone wanted to barter a trade for the use of it.
