State of Emergency in Elliot Lake

http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/news/local/article/211825

"Two people are missing after a rooftop parking garage collapsed at an Elliot Lake, Ont., mall on Saturday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police tell CityNews."

My family and I were terrified, waiting to hear about our loved ones who live in Elliot Lake and happened to be at the mall at the time of the collapse. Thankfully, all of my family members are accounted for and uninjured.

I hate hearing about things like this. I am always terrified to be in the Town Centre mall in Brandon, being as there are two parking lots above you when you. Yeesh.

I don't know the names of the two that were missing, but from what I have heard, there were no fatalities. I will try to find a link for you, but I believe everyone has now been accounted for.

Update

Apparently the search in Elliot Lake has been called off because they believe that it is too dangerous to the search and rescue team, due to structural issues. What is really sad is that they believe that there is at least one person alive under the rubble. I don't think that person has a chance of surviving if they call off the rescue, which is sickening to think of.

There has been so many conflicting reports. First, everyone was accounted for, then there were two missing, they said there were no casualties, now they believe one to be dead, and one alive. But my family who lives in Elliot Lake say that they heard there are 30 unaccounted for. I don't understand what is going on...but I hope this get figured out, and that if anyone is still alive, that they are rescued on time.

I'm just so happy that my family is safe. My cousin was heartbroken, holding her terrified little 7 year old son who was crying and begging for them to move away from Elliot Lake after everything took place.

Rescue Over

"Officials say the rescue mission at the Elliot Lake mall is over. The situation is too unsafe for rescue workers."

Wow. What an article. How nice it must be for people in this community to go to their local news site and see this fantastic little diddy, when they are all hoping and praying for their friends or family member to be resuced.
