New Gullivers ownership

Lots of moving and shaking in the restaurant business locally in recent weeks, the latest is that Chad Wallin is part of an ownership group thats purchased Gullivers. Chad of course started and owns Joe Beeverz and is now in the middle of construction on a second Beeverz location in Yorkton... and previous to that ran Montana's.

Gullivers always seems to be pretty busy but from my outsider point of view it was about the right time for a fresh face with fresh ideas. I noticed the change in their sign the other day and figured something might be up. From the sound of things they have some big plans for the restaurant and it'll be interesting to see what they do with it.

The other change that I don't think has had a mention on eBrandon yet but kind of fits in with this is Ben Hernandez's return to Remington's. Ben had left the restaurant as manager a couple years ago to pursue other options but bought it and took over about a month ago. He had been the face of the restaurant for so long and it goes without saying that its great to have him back and I'm sure applying his touch to the business.

they do change things ,I never go out to eat there ,They have had the same menu ever since they opened and I have always been greatly disappointed in the food . Maybe keep a few thing and do them better but sometime change is a good thing.

I always thought the food was pretty good, but the decor needed an update. To each his own, I guess.

coke!

Perhaps if they switch to Coke I could actually go there to eat. I won't go anywhere that serves Pepsi products. I call ahead if unsure LOL.

they keep the cheesy garden veggie soup...the reuben sandwich...the chicken fingers that are never dry and overcooked...but soft and moist....and of course the deep fried fish.....mmmm. the tables and chairs are in good shape...but the boots are worn and cramped...the tvs are old...but its a good restaurant overall....

they make some changes to the decor. I thought it was dirty, dumpy yet was totally amazed of the people coming and going. My husband said he is unlikely to go again as he had a good look at the decor while we waited what seemed like forever to get our food and he was most disgusted! He thought the menu was large but we still struggled to find something "differnt" and felt it was over priced for the processed stuff we actually got!! I hope new ownership means a major overhaul or this family is going to be a tough sell to go back!! P.S the server was very sweet tho.

well..

let's hope they change the menu! and the decor for sure..

but... changing decor or doing a whole renovation doesn't mean a thing if the food sucks, just like the chinese buffet in town that did so.

they keep my favourite bacon wrapped scallops, really love most of their food but the decor does not some changes, as far as Joe Beeverz, been there once and did not like the food, just not the type I prefer to eat.

gullivers is ok and i did like the food (not the atmosphere, i'm not a sports fan)i had at joe beavers but i wouldn't want to eat that greasy of stuff all the time, if the menu was a combination then i would be happy, i do think the place needs a bit of a make over but its not that bad either, the service has always been great though

gullivers

Its about time. Chad also owns the bulk barn. He and Crane Steel partnered up. I worked at Gullivers for a few years and let me tell you: OKAY food, decent servers and cooks, poor management. this is exactly what was needed. The building is in a bad way physically. The only thing that kept the place going was its location. with the kind of money backing it now, they will probably look to bring in a franchise or start something new. but who knows.

.

Well I hope it doesn't turn into a second Joe Beeverz. I love Gullivers, but I can't stand Joe Beeverz, the place and the food I just dislike.

I sure hope...

That gullivers stays the same. It is the one restaurant in brandon that i have NEVER had a complaint about the food or the service. I assume it has something to do with the manager Craig so i sure hope he stays on and continues his fantastic work leading an amazing team! LOVE LOVE LOVE it there!!

Gut it out, revamp the inside. It's ugly and uncomfortable.

The food however, is great. No complaints there, but their caesars need work. lol

Like others have said, the interior was worn out. Other than that, I would change very little, oh and
keep the Pepsi on tap!

One of my favorites

Gullivers for food, service and atmosphere is one of my favorite places to eat. I think I've only had a meal that I wasn't completely satisfied a handful of times - which for the amout I've at there over the years I'm not complaining at all. Love the food. Please please please keep the Harvest Cheddar soup! LOVE IT!!!! But I agree with most other people it like most places needs an update after some years. Good luck to the new owners! And as well wish the old ones well!

believe that Craig will be staying on permanently!

I love the food at Gulliver's. My daughter worked there for about 3 years so I got to try a lot of different dishes and never had any complaints.

Restaurants

We've visited Gulliver's sporadically here and there over the years, and the times we've been have always been a pleasant, mainstream experience. Changes and a restaurant refresh from time to time seem to be one of a few key elements in keeping dining establishments interesting. I'm looking forward to whatever is in store for Gulliver's and congratulate Chad Wallin and the group on the acquisition.

I've also been really pleased to see Ben's smiling face back at Remington's. He's a great guy and knows his stuff from service to quality and everything in between. All good on that front.

I hope...

they keep their desserts! The Skor cheesecake is teh best cheesecake I have ever ate!

But I agree, they need to re-vamp the place. Inside it looks kind of dumpy.

99% of the servers are so sweet though!

i love Gulliver's, i hope the menu stays the same, i order the same thing everytime i go there. Its like the Seinfeld episode about ordering the same thing, you know itll be good but its the same, you could order something different, itll be different but might not be as good.

I hope they do a complete overhaul on the decor. It needs a fresh look. As for the menu....please oh please do not change much.

Gullivers is the ONLY restaurant in Brandon where I have never had a bad complaint about anything EVER! And for someone who never tips the service is always great and I usually end up leaving something (and that says a lot LOL).
