Hello all! So I am in need of some advice and guidance. My daughter is 7 months old and we are wanting to get her baptised. We are not involved in a church here in Brandon but we are wanting to get her baptised in a United Church. Does anyone have any contact information for a church or minister that they reccomend? And I was also told that the United Church doesn't involve GodParents. Is this true? Thank-you all in advance. |

When My children were baptised in the United church each god parent was involved. Along with the portion ask the congregration for their guildence and assistance in bringing up the child.
God parents are asked for the benifit of the childs religeous guildance should something happen to the parents.
A legal Guardian is ask and named in the parents wills to care for your child if the parents become to do so.
I suggest you attend the 3 United churches here in Brandon and choose which one you would like to give your membership too. Then discuss you baptism needs with the Minister.
Anyone can recomend their church but the church has to work for you and your family. You are making a commitment for a period of years.
I would hope you are not looking for a cerimony without a commitment. Not Just an excuse to have a party, get more baby gifts/money and put a notation in your baby's book.

| | | baptism and confirmation | | |
In the United Church we have baptism of babys and then confirmation for older teens.
The teens will be assigned mentors and will take classes in preperation of their confirmation before God and the congergation. |

at that age also. The church done it when there was enough kids to make it worth while. My sister used a different church and had it as family only.
