Road attractions along the way

My wife , 2 girls and I are traveling to Nelson, BC in 10 days. Just wondering if anybody has made this trip before and knows any good attractions along the way. We are taking the #1 to Medicine Hat and then 3 to Nelson.

Frank Slide in the Crowsnest Pass, there is also a mine tour you can take near there as well. Beautiful area. Then at Sparwood BC, there is a huge mining truck that you can stop and see. Not too sure what else is past Fernie, it's been way too many years since I went past Fernie. Would love to go back someday soon... I miss the mountains!

depends on how long you want to be away and how much your budget is, i second frank slide ($22family? closes at 6 ab time though) and the mining tour near there is ok too ($9?) other things are tunnels of moose jaw and cypress hills isn't too far off the road near maple creek, thers conglomerate cliffs there and fort walsh, at medicine hat there is the biggest tipi(sp?) not that great but if you need a walk there trails through the valley are nice (make sure you make the corner at the 3 its not marked well)writing on stone park is kind of neat if you feel like going that far south, there is the longest train bridge in lethbridge and the okotoks erratic near calagry, theres ft Macleod and somewhere in there there was a town with a huge museum of windmills, the sparwood truck is right there on the side of the road and it has a tourist both there, ft steel is pretty good but a bit more($7 to get in but $25 to do the theater, train, and cart, but there is enough without doing anything) its 7 km off the 3 & 95? near cranbrook? and ainsworth hotsprings ($10 one time pass, stay as long as you want{bring water} or $16 all day pass)is a must imo just take the 3A on the east side of kootenay lake and go across the free ferry, which is good too and its about 10 minutes north after the ferry and then nelson isn't the other way
