She was refused shelter by both animal rescuing organizations in Brandon

I bought her from e- Brandon to protect her from going in to the wrong hands. I knew a lot more about her and where she was coming from before I sow her on e-Brandon. I reported to both Organizations in town that this dog needed to be rescued and both refused to help me for personal reasons. They came up with many excuses like no funds or no room. Even though I was donating money for her rescue they still refused her. When I bought her from e-Brandon both of them kind of said "you bought her you keep her" I don't understand their mentality. I am a big girl and I can take care of myself but a dog can't. We all need to take this time and learn from them and to be as they are, loving, loyal and forgiving and this is going to be a much better world to be part of. Princess was rejected for personal reasons and that was very wrong.

In spite of all she is been through she is a very affectionate puppy. We need some help to find a loving and permanent home for this 11 month old Dachshund. I would keep her my self but my dog is 15 years old she can't see very well and is deaf. We have been always together for 13 years and I don't want her to feel neglected at what ever time we have together. One of them will always be slower or faster than the other. If any one knows of a good home for her Please let me know.

I

Will be very surprised if someone doesn't take her. Will keep it in mind if I know anyone, and may God BLESS you for your kindness.

try

Try out of town?? Some outside less full rescue groups may love your donation. Then after that keep donating to them. I would go as far as Winnipeg if need be.

If you could support 2 dogs that would be the way to go. Your 15 year old will not last another 15! Good luck!

Not a last chance dog

I think the rescues in town like to focus on dogs and cats at the pound. They are on their last legs and will be put down in a matter of days. The dog you have right now is in a safe environment until a more permanent home is found.
Rescues can not take in absolutely every dog they get a phone call about. There isn't enough resources. So to decide who is in and who is out, taking from death row is a good option. I really hope you can find this girl a home. And thank you for taking her out of the situation she was in. Rescues wish they could do more but no matter how much they do, it will never be enough.

Also...

You could try calling the Brandon Pound and see if they have had any contact with someone looking for a dachshund. I know some people leave their name and number hoping a dog or cat of their specifications will come in.

Rescue Angel, you summed it up in your comment...I wish they could all be saved but there is always too many needing homes. It is so hard to say no but we can only do so much.

Shelters

Shelters hear excuses from people all the time on how people were just helping animals while in fact they are just irresponsible pet owners that won't admit they bit off more than they can chew and are trying to pass the buck onto someone else.

I'm not saying its the case here but pets are whoever owns them's responsibility and since you have purchased this dog it is now yours. The pound is full of unwanted dogs and cats at the moment that are on waiting lists to get into shelters. I think these dogs are more of a priority then the one you bought and now won't take care of

Did you ever think maybe they ARE full?

I know people involved with both rescue organizations and I have heard that things are really slow for both groups in the summer with so many people away. I have heard both groups are really full and have waiting lists. I also hear lots of dogs get dumped off in the summer months. I imagine BOTH places aren't saying no for personal reasons. They really ARE full.

I agree with Sweet T. You purchase a dog and it is yours. You can't just buy a dog and then expect to drop it off somewhere. Saving dogs is more than that.

I'm not really sure I understand so just to clarify, YOU got a dog off ebrandon that YOU thought needed rescuing and you're mad because FFFF and BHS wont take it off your hands?

Rescues ARE full

My post was rejected too. I just wanted to say that I know local rescues get very full in the summer months with so many people going away. I doubt that two groups refused you for personal reasons, but perhaps it was just because they ARE full.

I know people with both organizations, and I understand both rescues have been very overwhelmed this summer.

She was refused shelter by both animal rescuing organizations in Brand

I don't like to put any one on the spot but when we are at our worke place we have to leave our personal issues aside especially when there are animals involved. In this case it was all personal. I was a volunteer at the humane society for over year and I am aware of how full or busy there are I am not trying to take that way from them.

For both rescuing places their first response to my request was "we legally can't remove an animal unless the owner gives it up to us.
I had no problem with what they were saying. They were right. In this case they would need to have a lot more before they could take her from the owner. Her abuse was not visible. She was kept captive in a 3x4 home made cage day and night. She was taken out twice a day only to pee and that only for about 10 minutes at the time. She was also starved.

I knew about this dog before I first sow it on e-Brandon. I got the info about her being in e-Brandon from the landlord of the dog's owner. When I first called the rescuing places no one said anything about "no room". As for not enough funds I did offer by e-mail to donate for her rescue. I became the owner so; legally there was no more a problem for taking her as they had said. Both rescuing places knew that I was not buying her to keep her, I have the e-mail I send to FFFF to prove it And as for humane society I called twice, both times I was told they were not taking any calls but the second time the assistant did take the time to inform in a very unprofessional manner that they were not taking any calls again because they were dealing with their own personal issues and told me that I was on my own and hanged up on me with out giving me a chance to say anything. I was reporting an animal abuse just as every one else would have. Why was treaded with so much disrespect?

Both rescuing places have saved a lot of animals over the years and they deserve to be recognized for all they good they do, all of them are good people and I did what I did (buying the dog) because I am aware of how difficult it gets for them sometimes to go about taking an animal from its owner. I was being supportive.

It doesn't matter what we do as a group.... it only takes one person to ruin it for the rest. I am very sorry to say that one of the ladies working for FFFF who I am not related to but I am related to her daughter whom I might never meet and I have not been allowed to see for 17 years, handled this dog's rescue in a very unjust manner. If she did not want to have anything to do with me she should have let some one else to handle the case, just like I did by having some one else calling in to FFFF for me with the hope that she would not find out that it was me. She should not have refused the dog.
Not only my funds aren't good enough for them but I am also not ever to call their organization again.

This dog is not going to no pound or any other rescuing place I know there are a lot of good people out there that would like to have her it's a matter of time and she will have a permanent home soon. For those interested in her she is not a mini Daschund puppy.
Thank you all and please don't let my experience with the rescuing places in Brandon change your thinking of what they are really doing for the animals. I still believe they are good people I personally know some of them God Bless them and keep them safe so they will continue to help the animals.

Mission accomplished

Tonight, she is with her new family. As soon as we entered their back yard I could feel it in my heart that this was her home.
Thank you Jo,

she is back for a new home

The family that adopted her has two year old boy and can't keep her. Because she was always kept in a cage she does not know how to socialize with small children.....She needs a mature couple that will have the time with her and that has older kids...... I guess she is too young don't know how to ply with them yet.

Biting

We would keep her but she has bitten our son 5 times since we got her. And no one else. She is fine with everyone else. But there something about him.
So for the safety our children we have to find someone else to take her.
It breaks our hearts to give her up.

it could be

does ur 2yr old know how to be around pups? he may be smaking the pup thinking hes/she is petting the pup! that cud be why pup is biting! i have 3 young children and 2 dogs it does take patients to teach children the proper gentle way of petting any animal! you cant leave the child alone in the room with the pet as you dont know what the child or pet may do specialy the first few weeks!
