On August 26th my husband and I will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We are wanting to get away for a couple of days. We would like some place by the lake to spend some quality time together. We would like to find some place with a fireplace or a firepit. I have only been here for 6 years and I am not that familiar with a good place to stay. I am wondering if anyone might have any suggestions on where we could go?

There is a cabin for rent up in the Brandon Hills. We just spent our anniversary there and I was VERY impressed. Way nicer than any hotel.  
 
Its not by a lake but there's a large pond and they have a row boat that you can take out. Lots of good hiking trails.  
 
The cabin is very nice. Everything is in one room (except for the toilet/sink obviously). There's a little kitchen area, a large bed, a television and dvd player and a large jacuzzi tub. There's a deck on the back with a bbq.  
 
Its very quite and peaceful. And its close to Brandon so you can still drive in for dinner if you want or whatever. I think you can get a massage table at the cabin on request...

Barrier Bay...Whiteshell...cabins that are modern,spotless,air conditioned,with wood stoves or fireplaces,jacuzzi tubs,full kitchen,color tv with satellite,stereo,deck,covered veranda,bbq,adults only,nokids,no dogs,right by the lake....check out on the net...barrier bay....awesome romantic place for an anniversary!!

I would check out Elkhorn Resort up at clear lake. They have packages available. Note in the link I posted that they have a "summer honeymoon" package. Looks great. We are heading up to Barrier Bay in 2 weeks to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary, and also the honeymoon we never got. Good to hear a good review. They also have free kayak, canoe, and mountain bike rentals. You can also rent a motor boat for less than $100 I think. Enjoy whatever you end up planning!
