#16 highway up to russell

Hey guys, wife and i are currently just getting ready to head upto childs lake for our annual 3 week holiday up there. Just curious as to weather any of you have been up russell way and know of any construction going on? Of course we have our detour around the assisppi hill this time due to the land slide. But more worried about road construction and that lovely oil/sand mixture that attaches to everything! well have 150,000$ rolling down the road definatly nothing worse than getting to the lake and trying to scrub off tar on the boat/camper/truck!

Thanks in advance.

yes

just got back from Lake of the Prairies. There is construction on #16 between Foxwarren and Binscarth. We never go that way anyway. We always take #45 to Russel, then hit #83, less traffic and there is no construction.
Have a great trip.

Go through the park (riding mountain). Take the by pass around Dauphin to highway 5. When you hit Grandview then you just take the road up to the Duck Mountains and follow the signs to Child's Lake. No problem, did it last weekend and road was good despite a lot of rain on it.

Childs Lake

Jealous! We spent the weekend up there on the pontoon boat last weekend. Caught a whack of decent sized northern pike and one beautiful walleye.

Troll along in the 10-12 foot stuff along the cabins, that's where we had the most luck. If that doesn't work for you, try the north end of the lake. Perch-coloured jointed Rapalas were our weapon of choice. Anything silvery/blue worked as well.

Good luck!
