| | | We saw the light show | | |
to the north here in Brandon about one hour ago. We were guessing that it was probably heading towards Carberry maybe? |

Anyone who wasn't already awake has to be now. |

That was a lovely crack of thunder
Still awake from the first thunderstorm when the other half got scared (seriously, 6'4" and scared of thunder, men I tell ya).
I'm loving it Needs to be more lightning and thunder though. Gotta love that he hates thunderstorms, and it's happening on his birthday |

South end of Brandon (Patricia Ave area) was still without power when I went to work at 5:45. Heard the loud bang at 3:30 and the power went out. Hydro guys were busy on the scene doing what they need to do. |

I never heard a thing lastnight!!! The only sign of a storm was when I woke up the power was out. Even the kids slept through it. Got power back just after 7am. |

Quite the torrential downpour for 10-15 min, would be interesting to hear rain gauge amounts. Poor dog disappeared only to be found under the bed. From what I could tell we lucked out with round 2.... Looked to be a lot worse from Minnedosa-North |

Adam...under the bed was always where our dog would be.. I was always tempted to join him as not a fan myself.
NOCares...you almost made my coffee come out my nose...lol You are so cruel lmao
Farmer tom...reminded me of when Bombers used to come out here to practice. Our son was getting an autograph from Chris Wallby. [sp?] Thunder started to really rumble and he said "Oh oh...darn...we will probably have to cut the signing short..really don't like lightning"
And of course..me with "no filter" before I thought said.." I'm not too worried..lightning would hit you first". Thank heaven he thought this was hilarious . His laughter was louder than the thunder. lol |

| | | Blown Electronics | | |
We live just off Patricia Avenue and lost power for close to 2 hours. We now have a coax cable with black soot on it, a tv that wont' turn on, 2 breakers that were blown and other electronics that are shot. I have to check everything out when I get home and assess the total damage. My neighbour also had similar results. Anybody else run into this? I have to call when I get home and test everything, but is anybody aware of procedure with home insurance or is this considered an act of god that they don't cover? |

Same here. I have all my important electronics on good powerbars and am hoping that saved the electronics. Our breakers had about 1/2 tripped. We have a surge bars in the living room running all electronics. It will not turn on anymore yet the plug works. I have to buy a new power bar and test my electronices to see if the power bar saved them. I am unsure of what insurance covers. |

Also after this storm I will be getting a surge protector on my electrical panel to cover the whole house. |

Heard the loud crack at 3:30 aaaaand off goes the alarm clock and air conditioning. thought the power went out twice, actually.
Had to reset the circuit breaker for a few areas of the house and all is golden again! |

| | | A Better Idea | | |
If there is a thunderstorm, just unplug your electronic items. A surge protector may not always protect your computer etc. as somebody I know found out a few years ago. The result was the motherboard of the comp. got fried.

| | | Also near Patricia | | |
and three of my breakers tripped too. Computer equipment is on a UPS but need to check the electronics in the living room. Hopefully the surge protector did just that.
Is this common for power to come back on and trip so many breakers?? [is not just me but lots in the area |

What caused the power failure? I'm off Patricia too. I heard two loud cracks around 3am and thought a branch might have come down on the nearby power lines. There were some pretty large branches on the street when I drove to work this morning.
I also had some breakers tripped, and the surge bar for my computer is toast (computer was fine, though). My old PVR is also fried but it was plugged directly into the wall. |

of my breakers were blown. Power bar protected my computer but I didn't think so at first. TV is toast but other equipment like stereo are fine even though they were on the same power bar. I find that really weird. As well mts box is just fine. Not quite sure why TV didn't survive the power surge when everything else did. Any explanations? I live in Brentwood close to Patricia as well. |

| | | May have fixed my TV | | |
I have a wireless router that is shot but since I thought the TV was screwed anyway, I took the back off. The first inline fuse (close to where the power goes into the back of the TV)is blown and there is no black marks or visable damage inside the TV so I may have got lucky. I will pick up a fuse tommorow and hopefully that saves my @#$. If you have a flat screen TV, you might try that. |
