Windsor Spitfires fined record 400k

This was in the news earlier Friday.
By the link below the Windsor Spitfires have been fined $400,000 by the OHL for violating that league’s player benefit and recruitment rules and policies and will also have to forfeit three first round draft picks and two second round picks. The fine comes after investigation of a complaint made in 2010.
For their part, the team is denying any wrongdoing and say they are pursuing all avenues of appeal.

The potential local connection is of course that Windsor, seen as one of the more talented groups assembled in junior hockey, won the 2010 Memorial Cup in Brandon. It isn't said what player or players the investigation concluded were involved, when in 2010 the complaint was made or how far back any policy breach may have taken place so it's hard to say for sure how this may have effected that team.

She jokingly (maybe!) said that the Wheat Kings should be awarded the Memorial Cup. After all, they do that in other sports/contests, don't they? ;-)

Opinion

An extensive opinion piece that highlights the importance in the authors opinion of naming names and being transparent... Something we may still see as the process plays out:

If they take it away from Windsor it should go to nobody, the Wheat kings werent even the second best team at the tournament despite being in the final.

Its not an unrealistic thought! Even though i wouldn't hold my breath!

And seems to me, finishing 2nd place, they were the 2nd best team there!
...Must be a Hitmen fan. :s

The author listed a few possibilities, but failed to mention one name that is a very real possibility to be the culprit: Cam Fowler
