If that's the location, whatever it might've been is finished... No sign of anything

Thanks Adam!

There were military vehicles parked by the river in Dinsdale Park's north end yesterday...makes you wonder if there's some kind of training going on. Adam, thanks for being our only source of live media in situations like this - when you live nearby and don't know if it's safe to leave your house, it's nice that someone in town can keep us up to speed on situations like this!

Rosser east

A police officer in full riot gear and armed to the teeth was in front of our house a few minutes ago. I spoke with him briefly and he stated there was an incident they attended to a in the area. He didn't say much else but judging by his appearance it must have been fairly serious.

I heard gunshots last night...and its not the first weekend either. I thought this was a good neighborhood to move into, but there have been so many incidents! It is usually a quiet, beautiful area, though.

I sure appreciate that while i I'm sleeping in, the police are out taking care of business for us.

Btw I've worked at a gun club so i know the difference between gunshots and other sounds :-)

Rosser Avenue East

I live in the neighborhood as well and while driving home about an hour ago, I was rerouted at I think the 800 block of rosser avenue east. A few police vehicles had the street blocked off, police dog was out and appeared to be working. One officer directed me to turn off and just as I started turning to go up a side street, he yells go....go...go. Then I heard a very loud bang, no clue if it was a gunshot or not though. No idea what`s going on now, as I live a couple of blocks away.

800 blk

800 block sounds closer to right I think. I chatted with a couple people in the 1st and Rosser area and neither had seen anything but one person figured there was something further East down Rosser closer to the 4 way stop.

Stolen guns????

Just speculating but maybe they found some of those guns stolen from Joe Brook awhile back. Again, just my opinion.

Rosser East

Could be just about anything but was obviously a situation where there was more perceived risk than there normally would be when executing a warrant. It wouldn't be related but folks might remember this from Sept 2010 on Rosser East:
http://www.ebrandon.ca/messagethread.aspx?cat_id=3&message_id=337173

Is there anyone that can speak to where in the South end the other location might've been?

Rosser east

I live in 933 rosser east i woke up and saw a bunch of police men and swat guys outside my house, i went out for a smoke and watched, i am pretty sure it was a drug bust, 3 males and 2 women we arrested, There was no gun shot.. The negotiator told them to come out, then one of the ladies yelled you need a searched warrant now F*** off! Next thing i knew 6 or 7 swat guys ran up to the door and threw a flash in there, thats what the loud bang was.. I was outside a few minutes ago, everyone is gone. Sure was an interesting morning!

Do you really live in fear that's it's not safe to leave your house at times? I'm confused by that one comment. I've never felt afraid to leave my home here in Brandon, no matter who's outside.

has been doing some exercises on the river. Paddling from the west side of the Discovery Centre to Dinsdale Park. Then looked like they then had to run back to the Discovery Centre with a pack on.

If I hear that there's cops with guns pulled a block away, I'm not leaving until I know the situation's defused. Judge all you want, since you seem to always know better than anyone on here.

Perhaps we

can hold the speculation (oooohhh...maybe drugs or firearms) until more info is available. This is how rumours spread and only tend to confuse the situation.

South end

That incident was in Brentwood at around the same time 9:00 AM. Neighborhood woke up to a loud blast, turned out to be a flash grenade. Police were in their full gear here as well. Bullet proof vests etc.

but i agree with you truck chick! if i know the police are out and about near my home with guns drawn and ive heard a noise to what i think may be a gun shot, and i dont know what is going on then im not gonna pretend to be brave and leave my home! thats stupidty in my opinion. yes its only brandon but violence and crime doesnt care where you live! there are lot of senseless deaths and i dont wanna be one of them!

It wasn't actually Brentwood, it was Kingham Place, one of the last lots before the gate for Brentwood. However, the 200 block of Brentwood is immediately west of there.

My wife heard the flash bomb, figured someone was doing something at Mazer's (there is always loud noises coming from the dealership), and went back to sleep for awhile...

That's all I meant. Other than this one incident (and the similar one a couple of years back) I feel totally safe - this is a great neighbourhood and I love this side of Brandon :-)

said anyone is pretending to be brave and leave their home. I just think that if it were something really life threatening the police would at least do door knocks and tell residents to stay in their homes or something. Geeze.

oryx..

yes i know no one said they are pretending to be brave and leaving their home. i said it though.

and you have a point, in real life threatning situations the police would be doing this. or at least i hope they will! but in the first few moments of any situation, things can go wrong. all im saying is if i heard what i THOUGHT were to be gun shots and saw police outside i would be staying inside for a bit. thats all. as someone who usually posts pretty common sense posts, i dont see why you would have an issue with ppl doing this? i can just see what the threads would be like if there was a gun fight/issue and an innocent bystander got shot because they were going outside to check things out or to have a smoke.

imo, there is a difference between being afraid of leaving your home and just being careful given certain situations.

Military Vehicles

They are preparing for a Forces wide competition in Edmonton at the end of the month, kinda like the army version of the iron man. It includes a 31km run with a 15kg pack,3 km canoe portage, 10km canoe paddle and a 5 km march to finish the trek, it is known as Exercise Mountain Man.

Story

A story that the Sun posted today with more details is at the link below.

From the article, it was believed the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into firearms offenses and it was thought that the homes might contain illegal firearms. None were found
No word on whether or not it may have been linked to an investigation related to the Jo Brook break in:
