| | | where do ppl mid 20's find friends | | |
So i'm wondering where do people in their mid 20's find new friends in brandon? I'm not overly new to brandon (been here since December) and my home town isn't that far away. i'm having a hard time finding new friends here as where i work is more older crowd (40's) or they are younger but married. i have a few friends here but i am looking to make new ones and so far i find brandon to be clicky, im not the type of person to go up to a group of people and be like "hey whats up" any suggestions where i can meet new ppl (and please don't say go volunteer somewhere ive heard that a thousand times)
any help would be great! thanks |

| | | older | | |
what i meant by older is they are all married and we dont exactly have the same interests. we get along great at work and have fun but nothing outside work. Your right it really has nothing to do with age but interests and i dont have the same interests as a 40year old married person, our priorities are just different |

Well what are your interests? sports and other activities you enjoy are good places to start as I'm not much of a bar person anymore. |

I'm 32 and know alot of people ... not that i'd hang out with anymore though. really lost contact with them after high school. more of them were either into drugs or at the bar every weekend a few nights. or into underage girls. but ya i know alot of people just VERY limited to friends |

I'm in the same boat. I'm a shy person. I know a few people here, but I don't want to impose on them. Not to mention the whole reason I moved here kinda blew up in my face. I also would appreciate a gym partner, mostly to keep me motivated to actually go to a gym lol |

had I not known people here already when I moved, not sure I would have many friends here either. I don't know if Brandon is clicky, or if it just gets harder to make friends as we grow up and aren't in school/college any more where people are forced together in a room and eventually make friends lol. Guess it also depends on your work environment too but I would love to meet and make some new friends too. |

How to make new friends in Brandon? Move away.
I knew a couple girls from high school when I moved to Brandon, and I hung out with the girls I worked with. I was unable to meet anyone else. And I lived in Brandon for a year.
I then moved to small town Saskatchewan and I've met sooo many new people and have so many new friends! |

| | | near impossible... | | |
It is nearly impossible to meet friends in brandon. Yes, brandon is extrordinarly clicky. The only people who don't think it's clicky are the people who were born into these clicks. I have lived a lot of places and i habe never lived anywhere else that is this difficult to meet people to hang out with.
Even if you do meet people with similar interests, you have to play dumb on your ability or talents. If you don't, then you will be either classified as a show off or a know it all. Then you will either have people talk bad about you or slowly exclude you.
if you want real friends in this town, shop around for people who weren't born in brandon. Maybe not even in manitoba. Trust me, the livense plate lies when it says "friendly manitoba".
Yes, i know i will offend some people with that last comment. But i also know that there are a lot of people who will agree with that statement.
good luck in your search. |

| | | New Friends | | |
Brandon is no different than any other City. It saddens me to know that people in their 20's do not know how to make friends publicly.
I know as I (and many of my friends) decided to move to small-town and large Cities west of here many years ago at your age and we went through some of the same stuff. It was a tough go at times, but was and still is the same thing no matter where you go.
You need to get out there. Get involved with what interests you. Sounds lame I know, but, believe an experienced one. It always works. Just go and be brave, even if it is by youself. Don't be afraid to talk to people.

I am also in my mid 20's and am also having this problem. I moved here in 1997 and as i grew up i knew tuns of ppl but never any solid friends
No one i could rely on, or be kids with.
I moved away on and off because of this reason and as i got older into the work force, no one would even hire me. So i had the issue of not finding work to earn an income nor could i meet new ppl.
Anywho i just moved back from a small town and not everyone is lucky when they move away from brandon. I haf thre same issue everywhere else too.
Now dont get me wrong i am very friendly down to earth but i have been real screwed over when i was a kid and have trust issues. I also suffer from manic depression.
Well i just moved back to attend school and things kind of blew up in my face so i am quite upset lost and unsure of what to do. It def doesnt help i have no one to talk to.
I have a fire pit in my back yard and i wish i could go camping with a group of ppl. Make a trip out of it, bring the fishing rods, some food n drinks.
I do have a bf that has never really moved away from his home town so this is all so new to him. Hes very quiet and only has a few interests so it also is difficult for me to meet ppl when i have 2 ppl involved.
Anywho im done blabbing im up for a fire and smores :D |
