| | | Another good reason to immunize. | | |
Many years ago my nephew and niece both contacted whooping cough. I didn't realize until then how awful it actually is. The kids threw up for weeks and weeks because they were constantly coughing so hard. They threw up every meal they ate because of the coughing. It was like having a really really bad flu that lasted almost six weeks. Please immunize. |

| | | How | | |
often as an adult should you get immunized? Does it automatically include the whooping cough? I know the last time I was immunized was at my daughter's 18 month needles. She's now 4. |

| | | Vaccinations | | |
The Government of Manitoba has vaccination schedules and information online for anyone needing a catch up or booster shot.
Whooping cough is known as Pertussis, so that's where this particular vaccine fits in on the schedule.
The consequences of whooping cough for children are not pretty, and I urge anyone not immunized to look into it.

Could probably look it up, but if you've had whooping cough are you immune to it? I had it as a baby and my mom had to deal with me coughing and throwing up in the night for months. I can't remember how many she said. |

Adults should get boosters every 10 years. " |

Thanks for that info as well. We've been on top of getting our tetnus shot, but I didn't realize we needed to be boosted. Will get on that as soon as we get rested up from harvest.
Hmmm, maybe that's what I had. I know I became sick when I was one and I threw up for like, a month or so. Wasn't very fun. |

| | | Was not aware | | |
that there was a booster for whooping cough.
I am curious though - I had this when I was two (was in the hospital for a day or two with it) - has anyone come across in the readings a guideline for those who have had the disease?
Not sure if it is one of those things that you have and there you are safe or not. |

if an immunization provides immunity so would actually having the disease, if you'd like a booster phone your PHN and ask they will have the most recent up to date info |
