Large police presence

South end of 18th St, in and around the mall. Anyone know what's going on?

Police at the entrances and exits.

Police seem to be surrounding the mall. Someone inside I guess.

No way

There is no way that only the power went out. There were police dogs. And too many patrol vehicles around the building. I could maybe understand 1 or 2, and some Manitoba hydro trucks. But we're talking atleast 8 police vehicles. And 2 dogs.

and

Cops flying south down 20th with lights on then around behind the theatre. I'm thinking more than a power outage too.

Police at mall

Nah, they were definitely looking for someone. There was cops cars at every entrance/exit of the mall with lights flashing and when I was heading to the mall they were searching a couple males behind the mall at one of the entrances and more cops were showing up. But when I came out of the mall around 7:30pm, the cops were gone. There will probably be something in tomorrow's police release.

Police

Nothing in the police media release today about what was going on at the mall yesterday, which is kinda strange for that large of a response. Must of false alarm and nothing criminal happened.

maybe it's a 'needs to know' and we don't need to know? Suits me fine!

I'm grateful that the police are out there doing their job!

True...

I'm almost wondering if the arrest of a suspect involved in four robberies over the last 3 days mentioned in the police media release, is connected to the police presence at the mall yesterday. I guess we will find out at a later date as it says in the release that more info will be released in the future.

Yes

It is related according to the below quote from the Brandon Police Services media release:

" On April 15th at 6:51 PM, Police responded to Falcon Crescent after receiving a report that a male had been cornered in his garage by three suspects. After a brief struggle, one of the suspect took cash and keys to the 81-year-old victim’s vehicle. Police k-9 tracked to the Brandon Shopper’s Mall and the suspect was arrested inside the mall".

April 15th was Saturday and I seen the cops at the mall around 7Pm on Saturday. This discussion was also started on Saturday night.

Just kids

From what I hear, it was just 2 kids that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Questioned and sent home.
