Winnipeg, MB (CKLQ) – Pouring on almost 50 shots, the Virden Oil Capitals had to come back from an early goal to beat the Neepawa Natives 5-1 in the last day of the MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg.
Neepawa scored the first goal of the game with just over four minutes gone in the first period as Ashton Anderson buried his 18th of the year.
In the second period, Dylan Thiessen tied the game and then Kyle Salaway scored four minutes later to put the Oil Capitals on top.
In the third period, while the game was still in reach, Virden took control outshooting Neepawa 18-3. Eventually the shooting worked, as the Oil Capitals scored three goals in the last five minutes.
Dalton Dosch only had to stop 16 shots in the game, while Neepawa goaltender Spencer Eschyschyn stopped 44 of 49 shots.
