The playoff dreams of the Neepawa Natives have been iced, after a 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Blues on Wednesday, Feb. 28. With the defeat, the Natives were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, unable to catch the eight place Swan Valley Stampeders before the end of the regular season.

If there was any type of consolation for the disappointing result, it’s would be found in the fact that the team didn’t go out without giving it all they could. Neepawa put constant pressure on the Blues throughout the third period, with several chances just missing the back of the net.

Noah Carson scored first for Neepawa, near the end of the second period, while Ashton Anderson scored his 31st of the year, in the third period. For Winnipeg, 20-year-old forward Levi Cudmore scored once and picked a helper to led the way. Nick Cicek and MJHL MVP Dexter Kuczek also scored, to provide the sixth-place Blues (30-22-4-2) with the victory. For Neepawa, the loss dropped their record to 25-30-3-1, with just one game remaining in the regular season.
