It’ll be a celebration that’s been three decades in the making for the Neepawa Natives. On Saturday Sept. 22, the Junior “A” club will be kicking off their MJHL regular season home opener in style, with a parade and tailgate party.

The festivities are a part of the team’s commemoration of their 30th year of operation.

Neepawa Natives board member Bill Syrik said that the organization wanted to do something different for their year 30 celebration.

“2018 is a special year for the Neepawa Natives as it’s their [30th year], and this deserves to be a memorable year not just for the players, but for the whole town to celebrate,” said Syrik.

Robby Moar, the team’s marketing director agreed with Syrik’s statement, adding that they hope to make the entire day something to remember.

“I love the parade idea and bringing the community together”. Even one of the players was overheard on the team bus saying it’ll be awesome, and help get them fired up for a great start to the season. With so many reasons to celebrate including the team’s season home opening game, a live band performance during the pregame tailgate party, this is promising to be a Sat-urday evening to remember.”

The schedule for the festivities will see the parade start at 5:00 p.m. It’ll go from the Town of Neepawa Administration office to the Yellowhead Centre and feature the players of the Neepawa Natives. Then at 5:30 p.m., the tailgate party and live entertainment will get underway. Music will be provided by Sensessions. The doors will open at the Yellowhead Centre at 6:30 p.m., with the opening face-off versus the Winkler Flyers set for 7:30 p.m.
