There are upcoming information sessions being offered on starting up your own licensed home daycare. I would suggest calling Family Services and Consumer Affairs 1-800-230-1885 as I think they have the info needed or can guide you to the right place where to sign up for the sessions. I believe you need to attend 3 sessions to get started. I have the info somewhere, I will also look for it and add it later if I can find it :)

Why would you want to run a daycare? long hours low pay? any one looking in to a government licensed home daycare. need to open there eyes be ready for new rules and regulations from some group of administrative staff working to justify there place.
Bottom line is the pay sucks ask any licensed home daycare provider its a crap job to be stuck with.

have you considered opening a private home daycare? you mention you have 3 children but not their ages. as a private HDC provider, you are allowed to have 4 children in your care at one time. so if you have school aged children you can still have 4 kids during the day. i hope that you find something that works and makes you and your family happy!! :)

wrydpainting....childcare is NOT a profession one gets into because of the pay and it most likely never will be. i am in childcare because i love children. i have a home daycare because i needed less stress on my back, wanted to be my own boss and also to prepare for our own family(we wont need childcare obviously). sure, there are some in the childcare field who maybe shouldnt be, but those ppl are usually few and far between and hopefully not kept employeed for long.

money isnt everything. once i realized that, i was MUCH happier!! altho, i have to say, my paychecks are just as good as when i was in healthcare working shiftwork and hardly ever having any holidays or weekends off. for me, it was a smart move. :)

Thanks, I will try find some info Tamara, and of course I am not in for making big bucks, just for less stress and as sammy said being your own boss is better, well my oldest child is 12 and I have a 2 and 4 year old. But I'd just feel like I'd rather be taking care of my kids and wait to go back 2college when they are in school full-time so this wouldn't be a forever kinda of thing useless I absolutely loved it, and if i did then
I guess i would be going back to school to open a new centre in b-town since it is a much need thing in this day and age! (:
