I could have ten done by then pm me for or with more info . Like do they have to be a specific color or is any color acceptable. I have oodles of yarn to use up. Some orange lots of black and some white. I could do a combo of those and do at least 10 then will check in to see if you need more. Should I knit them or crochet them or a combo of the two? Thanks

I would love to crochet some, soul. I also have some red yarn here, but if you want specific colours let us know. Is it OK to have some design to the squares? I think this is a cool idea.

Good idea, Soul. I sent you a bit of yarn, hopefully that's useful. This could become a great repeat event and a useful fundraiser....

Okay, I have pm'd a couple of you and Doreen, that would rock! You guys can use any colour you like and I encourage you to be creative with your stitches, colours and patterns. It is your way to express your generosity in the form of a square ;)

THANKS RIX!!!

Count me in. I'm knitting anyway. May as well be something useful. Lets keep doing this and continue to make afghans. Long as someone else stitches them together, I can knit til doomsday! I have white, black, umm maybe red, no orange at the moment but a box full of other colours

For anyone that doesn't already know this or hasn't looked. Ravelry has oodles of free patterns for afghan blocks both knit and crochet. Just type it in search click free as options on the left hand side and I think there are 766 different ones. :)

My red I started using is a terrible material, I am going to do some off white ones if that is ok and I will look for some red or orange to make some more so you can up me to 10 instead of 5.

I think my red is only going to last for one square but I have oodles of yarn in many different colours and yarn weight too. Gonna be an interesting afghan I'm sure. And in a month I can do more than 5 as well. Will do as many as possible in the time frame

I have 14 more squares if you need them Soul. Should we be thinking about starting another afghan? I would like to offer to put together another one, but I would like to do it with square squares (probably 6 or 8 inch squares). As I live 45 minutes from Brandon it would be great to have a drop off place for them in Brandon.

Just wondering if the afghan is still happening, I have 6 squares but have had no response from Soul in a week to drop them off, I will only be in Brandon one more time before the deadline.

Doreen - I have about 15 8" x 8" squares that can be used for a new one. Just pm me if you want them. They are mostly browns and earthy colours. Let me know.

I prefer doing 6"X6" squares as well Doreen, I won't be able to get anymore done before the social but if you wanted to do another afghan in the future for another fundraiser please keep me in mind I would be more than happy to contribute.

Jackfish - have you tried pm-ing Soul? I will try to get in touch with her and have her get back to you. The last couple of times I have dropped off squares she has not been home and I have left them on the door knob (or if the dog is out, on the gate).
The 8 x 8 inch squares would be wonderful "your name here" I will also send you a pm. I will need a drop off place in Brandon.
Jackfish, seeing as we have already been offered some 8"x8" squares we will go with that size ... hope that works for you. If you crochet let me, doing square patterns is a lot easier for making differenct designs. Once again any colour(s) of squares are welcome. I think these are some terrific winter projects, even if we don't raffle them until later one

I have pm'd Soul, I changed my screen name for personal reasons and I let her know that so she wouldn't be confused about who I am. After I finish up my 6X9 squares I will work on 8x8, I am a knitter so any size works for me. I will be off work all of March and will need something to do. I am in Rapid City but I can drop off in Brandon for you later in March for a future afghan.

I have left 9 squares with my daughter to go in with hers and now I have another 3 done. Seems there may now be enough of the 6X9 so I will start on the 8X8. Doreen, just let me know where to leave them.

Thanks everyone ...
Ctrygal - I am planning on mixing colours throughout the afghan so if you wouldn't mind I would prefer them not put together ahead of time. I expect that I can add to squares that are smaller than 8x8. Your offer is very much appreciated.
Beej226 - that sounds great. At the moment I am not absolutely sure where the drop off spot will be so I will have to get back to you on that one.
Take care :)

Wow Ctrygal ... that is amazing and a terrific start for us :). I am thinking of making this into a queen size afghan with the sides hanging down well ... does that sound reasonable to everyone?

HELLO! I was distracted hanging out with my older son the past few days and dodging Valentine's Day. I dread this day, but for different reasons. Your squares can be dropped off at my place and I will pm you the addy. Like Doreen said, if we are not home, they can be left on the doorknob as I am usually not too far away...

I think I have your address Soul (from my mom Beej226) Between us we are approaching 20 blocks When we are at that number I will drop them off.

Doreen I am just outside brandon if that helps for a drop off place. Also count us in on your project, 8x8 works. I have three custom orders to do but inbetween I can try to get as many done as I can and my daughter is crocheting away on some too. Thanks

Am up to five now. Let me know where I can drop them off also. I don't have wheels but I might be able to get a ride.
Is anyone that is dropping off pieces at soul's going to the coffee meet today? I could probably bring them with me if that's the case.
Thanks

Thanks so much for the offer of a drop off place Lee Anne. What is your general location and a question to the others, is this a convienient location? It might to be good to have a few drop spots which I can place a wish for on the forum. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sharon - I am collecting squares for the second afghan, but have put it on hold for now, as this seems to be a winter project. I am not sure about Soul's afghan.
Just as a side note, I prefer to call them Afghans as quilts are generally made with fabric and sewen together.

And as for the first afghan .... we ran into some proverbial snags. I hurt my wrist, someone volunteered to complete it and then my family lost our home at the end of April. I have been in touch with the person to complete it, and it will be done soon.
