After School Program Facilitator
Position Overview
Reporting to the Settlement & Integration Manager, an After School Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing a learning program that is age appropriate and supportive atmosphere to accelerate learning.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and supportive learning environment to facilitate English skills development, homework tutorials, recreational activities, understanding of Canadian culture and diversity and enhancement of social skills
- Prepare and implement age appropriate lesson plans and programing plan following needs assessments, research, or evaluation of results to facilitate settlement
- Meet regularly with Youth Program Facilitators to discuss lesson plans, feedback on successes and challenges in the program, and other require
- Work closely with larger team and across departments to determine settlement plans, needs of clients, volunteer requirements etc.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of programs and services available at WIS and in the community to support clients to allow appropriate referrals
- Develop partnerships with service providers to effectively link clients with appropriate community services
- Stay informed on current resources, trends, changes, and services gaps in the general community and specific communities
- Maintain accurate records of services and provide reporting to management as required
- Empower clients to become self-sufficient and respect professional boundaries
- Create an inspiring, engaging and collaborative atmosphere within teams and other WIS departments to achieve collective goals and deliver quality service to clients
- Engage in professional development activities to remain current in the field
- Provide management with operational support as required
Qualifications
- Knowledge of challenges faced by newcomer school-aged children and youth
- Ability to manage client caseloads and maintain confidentiality
- Self starter able to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management
- Strong proficiency and ability to communicate in English
- Possess a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence and access to reliable transportation
- First Aid Certification
- Provide a clear Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver Abstract; where required
- Ability to work collaboratively with management, employees, and community stakeholders in a diverse environment
