A significant piece of Downtown Brandon has officially hit the market this month. Westoba Credit Union’s now former Princess Avenue branch has been listed complete with its 9500 square feet of total space and ample glass at a price of $2,499,900.
Westoba announced in the summer of 2017 that it would be closing that particular branch in order to allow it to focus on online and alternative services and to allow it to invest in technology and staff development. It would officially close in November of 2017 as plans for the sale proceeded.
Westoba maintains the building directly to the South as corporate headquarters for its 16 branches in Manitoba. It and the building now for sale were connected via a unique-to-Brandon skywalk that opened in 2008. The existence of the skywalk adds an element of uniqueness to the sale and my understanding is that new owner would have the option to use it and the elevator on the Westoba corporate side or could choose to remove the skywalk entirely.
