United Way encourages you to spread these 28 acts of ‘Local Love’

Posted by Adam in Local News, 2/14/2019

As we reach the halfway mark of February and a pretty darn important day on the calendar for many, its a great time to call attention to an initiative from United Way of Brandon & District that I really feel has the opportunity to make this community an even better place for everyone that works, lives and plays in it.

The “Acts of Local Love” February calendar gives one suggestion for an Act on each of the month’s 28 days of some of the simplest and often-taken-for-granted gestures that when carried out have the chance to make a difference in the day or life of a fellow Brandonite.

So far suggestions for Acts have included “opening a door for a stranger,” “if you’re in line invite the person behind you to go first” and yesterday’s “plug a random parking meter.”

Today being the day of Love itself, the suggested Act is to “Tell someone you love them.”

You might choose to go about in a selfless way, but FWIW as a nice little bonus it’s been shown that such gestures have a positive effect on the ‘giver’ too. Two big, enthusiastic thumbs to the United Way for being a driver being spreading Love and Kindness in the community. You can view and download the full calendar at:
