With clocks set to jump an hour forward in the early morning hours on Sunday, a hot topic of conversation has sprung to the forefront this week as folks discuss the merits, and some suggest lack thereof, of Daylight Savings Time.
The debate comes alongside a Private Members Bill known as Bill 205 which tables the thought that its time for Manitoba to stop the practice of ‘springing forward’ on the grounds that it’s more trouble that it’s worth when weighing consequences versus benefits. Though it should be noted that the bill has not been passed as of now, should it gain enough support and become law as proposed this weekend could potentially be the last time we turn clocks forward.
An active discussion was started in the eBrandon forums this week with 25 posts and counting from folks sharing their two cents, ranging from support of the proposed bill to those that feel change isn’t necessary to those that feel we should stay with Daylight Savings year-round to preserve an extra hour of evening daylight. You can read those thoughts and have your say in the discussion thread that’s been attached to this post.
