A lot of commotion and concern came about late Tuesday night when Police blocked off an area of E Fotheringham Drive in Brandon’s extreme West end and went as far as advising the public to stay away from the area. Several hours later the public was given the all-clear to use the area again, though further information was not available on the nature of what took place.
This morning’s Police release brings more clarity to the operation that led to such a significant response. In the release its said that Police were conducting a search warrant of a residence on the street as part of an investigation into several firearms offences. As a result a long gun and firearm parts were found and a 31 year old Brandon man and 32 year old Brandon woman face various firearms charges.
Speculation throughout the day on Wednesday surrounded whether or not there may have been a more active armed standoff as part of the operation, though there is no information to say that was the case.
