The Winter Fair isn’t the only crowd-drawing event to take place this week.
The 32nd Rotary Book Sale, complete with its stash of 60-70,000 books, begins Thursday morning and runs through Saturday out of the Victoria Inn’s Grand Ballroom.
As a parent the sale is super-important as a way to quench our kiddo’s thirst for reading with a variety of new-to-us books without breaking the bank. All kids attending get a free book. Books beyond that are priced very reasonably, with amounts generally being met with coins before bills.
For adults, the always large selection of hardcover books are $4 each or 3 for $10.
In my experience the key for best selection is to visit on the first day, where folks have been known to lineup Boxing Day-style before doors open in the morning to get their pick of the litter. That said we didn’t make it until Friday at the last sale and still came away with plenty of good reads since Rotary folks will initially have some books in storage that are brought out once other books have sold to open up space.
Doors open on each of Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9am.
