A week and a half ago we told you about plans for the local Bulk Barn location to temporarily close in order to allow for a significant renovation. At that time they were beginning to markdown select items out of the thousands they carry in the store to better prepare themselves leading up to their last day on April 20.
Today it looks like things became much more serious, with discounts being increased and the store advertising via signage discounts of up to 75%. A markdown of 50% was observed to be the most common including bulk pasta, rice, many teas, some bulk chocolate and peanuts and some dog biscuits. Other items were marked down 25% and some others remained at regular price. At the time of my visit staff were still in the process of applying discount stickers to other select items.
There are no further plans to order in additional inventory until closer to the May 23 date that theyâre targeting for re-opening in their newly renovated store.
