The City has been in the process of setting out a 20-year plan as it relates to recreation and community facilities in Brandon.
While in the past generally speaking thereâs been a habit of folks in various levels of government of fulfilling the need for public engagement with âcold weeknight in Januaryâ consults, this particular process has had more of a feel of public involvement.
Earlier this year as part of developing the plan an online and paper survey was conducted on related topics that netted 1214 replies. Also in January two public workshops were held that saw participation from several dozen more. The results of that information gathering were later shared at this link. Itâs a really telling document for anyone with a few moments to read and an interest in learning citizen priorities.
Now based on the results, strategies have been drafted on where Brandon goes from here in terms of recreational and leisure facilities and services and youâre being invited to check that info out at a come-and-go Open House on Monday at the Cultural Resource Centre (638 Princess Ave, 6th Street entrance) from 3-7pm. I hope folks find time in their schedules to drop in and for those that are unable to make it fingers are crossed that the info is later shared online!
What you see Monday is said to then be worked into a draft plan that will be presented to City Council later in the spring.
In a totally separate forward-looking announcement later on Monday, a new âplace brandâ is expected to be unveiled for the city. Recently Minnedosa adopted new branding around the âValley Lifeâ moniker... itâll be interesting to see whatâs been come up with for Brandon!
