The United Wayâs Spring Edition of Brandonâs Largest Garage Sale helped kick off Garage Sale season on Saturday and based on numbers shared today the sale was a huge success.
When I dropped by a little after 9am I was blown away by how many folks were out (see picture). As it turns out, almost 2500 people stopped in over the course of the six hours to browse the 182 tables that were setup. Items for sale ranged from traditional used garage sale stuff to collector items to vendors from home based businesses.
A 50/50 Sale saw a lucky winner net $742.50. All told more than $10,000 was raised that goes toward supporting the 29 agencies and 39 programs that the local United Way funds.
Next up for the United Way is their May 16 Lip Sync Battle where corporate teams from local businesses will compete in the name of fundraising.
Not that you or I likely have any interest in wishing summer away but September 21st will see the Fall edition of the Largest Garage Sale. In the mean time garage sale listings have started to pop up in the classifieds and will no doubt ramp up in quantity in the days and weeks ahead.
