Almost a month ago you likely read in this space about an ambitious new venture that’s been in the works for Minnedosa Lake this summer, Splish Splash Water Park. As the opening of the park draws closer, more details are now known about the summer attraction that has Westman quite giddy if the number of views and reaction to the post announcing initial plans are any indication.
Initial pictures that were circulated in April had provided only a general idea of what a park from the same manufacturer could look like. Recently the actual design was chosen for what amounts to a 100-person park (pictured in the rendering attached to this post). On a particularly busy day where they perhaps have more than 100 there would be a queue with wait times not expected to be overly long based on natural staggered entries and folks coming and going.
I’ve also learned that entry fee for the day will be $25 or $15 after 5pm. For more frequent visitors a five day punch card will be sold for $99. On a quick check that pricing structure is nearly identical to that used by a company that runs several similar parks in BC and Ontario.
More details have also been shared on some of the ground rules that’ll be in place to ensure safety. That includes the fact that there will be a minimum height of 46 inches tall. Kids 10 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult with a two children per adult limit. Life jackets of varying sizes will be provided to visitors.
Also on the topic of safety, near the top-right of the rendering image is a lifeguard tower. They remain in the process of hiring staff with the aim of bringing on 4-5 lifeguards, 4-5 assistant lifeguards and concession staff.
As of now opening day is tentatively set at June 24 with a grand opening over that entire weekend.
A totally separate water-based venture is in the process of bringing together plans for a park featuring eight inflatable waterslides on the Keystone Centre grounds in Brandon. At last word that park was targeting June 12 for its opening. I think I speak for more than a few people in looking forward to what both have the potential to add to summer days in our corner of the province!
