A new food truck is helping to breathe new life into one of the city’s larger green spaces.
Hogs Fries and Dogs opened for the season last Saturday in the main parking area at Dinsdale Park, adjacent to the riverbank.
One of its operators spent the better part of a decade working at another well-known food truck in the area and now finds themselves a part of this venture. Out of their truck, a converted fire rescue vehicle, they will be serving items that include hot dogs, hog dogs (hot dog with bacon), homestyle fries and drinks.
The truck debuted last year primarily in making appearances at events such as Music in the Park, Rockin the Fields and Austin’s Threshermen’s Reunion in addition to a longer run late in the summer at the site of a local car wash. This year they have taken things one step further in securing a more permanent location for the season, still with plans to setup at some of the area’s bigger events over the summer.
Hogs Fries and Dogs will be setup at Dinsdale daily from 11am - 6pm weather-permitting, save for the days they are setup at events. Intent is to run at minimum through September and perhaps later, with the limitation that they won’t be able to operate in below-zero temps.
