The latest test of Canada’s new emergency alert system is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Manitoba, Manitoba Infrastructure’s Emergency Measures Organization advised today.
At 1:55pm an Alert Ready test is to be pushed to cell phones in the province with its unmistakably audible tone and if the past is any indication it will be the subject of much conversation locally both online and offline.
Discussion in the forums surrounding a previous test in November saw area cell phone users have mixed results and reaction with some receiving the alert and others uncertain why they did not. In a notice currently on the Alert Ready website relating to the upcoming test its stated that not all devices will get the alert, receipt depending on device compatibility, software version, phone settings and connection to an LTE network.
