Manitoba Hydro has issued an advisory today informing the public that a contractor working on their behalf will be performing safety inspection surveys on gas lines in Brandon this week.
As part of surveys the contractor, Tecvalco, may be seen on or near private property. As part of their work contractors are required to carry clearly displayed identification and carry Manitoba Hydro authorized business cards.
The inspections are required by the Public Utilities board as means to identify and if necessary promptly correct any gas leaks that may exist. Inspections in Brandon are said to take place until Friday.
The topic of contractors and Manitoba Hydro has garnered more attention in recent years with reports, including many on the discussion forums on this site, of door-to-door canvassers falsely claiming to be representing the corporation.
